Game 29: Nebraska at Michigan Recap

To be fair, Eli drew a foul and had a deflection leading to a turnover. Its easy to forget that he’s made some big-time plays for this program (UCLA last yr, @ NW this year). Keep shooting Eli, I believe in you!

Interesting game; fun game with so many minutes for Castleton and DeJulius.

Castleton looks like a five and has a better post game than anybody else on the team. He’s pretty instinctive out there, showing some good footwork, kept the ball high on a putback and doesn’t seem to be intimidated. I agree Fernando is a entirely different and more difficult task, but no reason Castleton can’t matchup with Kithier

DeJulius just needs to relax a bit. Calm down. He is eager to impress which tends to make him a little over zealous and impetuous. He’s fun to watch.

Even though he missed all 3 triples, I liked the quick release and pretty shot from Nunez. Nobody else on this team has a release that compares to Nunez. I think there is a role for this young man next year.

I’m with you I’m still high on Nunez he’s got a good looking shot and he elevates when he shoots it. If I remember correctly the younger guys that aren’t supposed to get much playing time have a full blown camp Sanderson session prior to most games. That type of workout can throw off your touch and mess with you a little.

I was at the game and every time Eli got the ball I was yelling for him to shoot it :joy: I firmly believe he has a good shot, just lost the confidence to take them. Feels bad, hope he turns it around.

From the stats I just saw, surprisedly, Teske’s 3pts percentage is better than CM’s.

If that was a preview of next year’s team, then I feel pretty good about next year’s team. Nebraska certainly played a role, but I thought that Michigan played a solid game, aside from some recklessness with the ball.

Nebraska is a mess. Some of their early game shot selection was terrible, and one of their assistants was going crazy after some of Michigan’s open looks. I was impressed that Miles chose to bench Allen, Palmer, and Roby for the first 8 minutes of the second half. He hasn’t given up, although at times, his posture on the bench said otherwise. That “different” lineup had a good start to the second half, but of course, talent won out and the gap stayed / widened. That’s likely going to be a pretty weak team next year.

The senior night stuff for Charles was well done, and the post-game Beilein address to the crowd, along with Charles’ reluctant speech, made me smile. There’s no way I miss next year’s senior night.

I still believe in Eli. The team plays well when he’s in, even if his personal statistics are very underwhelming.

My #1 concern is that Eli transfers. Unfortunately with DD stepping up and JP probably returning next year, his window of opportunity is shrinking.

And, while we’re not supposed to talk about officiating on this forum, Eli turnover, a “travel” was simply not a travel. I’ve watched it over several times and hit pivot foot remained on the floor and didn’t move other than to pivot. It was not a travel. I only mention this because the only thing attributed to Eli in the recap was that he had a turnover. Yep, it was a turnover because the official called a travel, but it wasn’t a travel. Just sayin’.

If I remember correctly Beilein also did not agree with the call. I don’t think it was the one where he “interrupted” Harbaugh’s interview but he was pretty miffed.

Nothing in the world sets John Beilein off like a traveling call that he disagrees with.

Now that’s funny

No college coach works more on pivoting and footwork than John Beilein.

Lol. I get it thought. It’s his emphasis as a coach and it must be tough to watch kids execute perfectly but still get punished.

Earlier in the game, the first foul on Isaiah I think, JB was quite miffed that a foul was called when Isaiah had a forearm on James Palmer’s back way out on the wing, another one I thought was an improper call. It was only a foul because the official blew the whistle and called it a foul, but it was a legal defensive move by Isaiah. Credit to Coach B for just being miffed as I personally was yelling obscenities at the ref through the TV! Isn’t it amazing that an otherwise “mature” 72 year old is going WACKO on the refs, through the TV, in a 29 point blow out! No wonder no one wants to watch games with me! :joy:

I hope I’m as technologically in-tuned as you are when I’m 72. My dad is 58 and types on the keyboard with 2 fingers.

Oh, believe me, I’m not technologically that tuned in. In fact I tell people I’m a technological illiterate! :grinning: Yes, I’m on my computer all the time, way too much according to my wife, and I finally passed the test to get a “smart” phone. No more flip phones for me and I gave up my land line years ago! But, like most “old” people I’m still pretty scared of technology!

Even at my age I still substitute teach. Really, I do. And, and I don’t want this to sound too arrogant, but I’m a master teacher. Really. I mean, I can teach, baby! And we have a GREAT time when coach comes to sub. BUT, if there is technology involved I pretty much have to rely on the kids so I don’t screw it up! But, put me in front of that class, arms waving around, old guy jumpin’ up and down, slappin’ high fives and fist bumps! I’m still a pretty good motivator, and I CAN teach!

As for keyboarding, I’m right there with your dad, two fingers, middle finger on the left hand and pointer finger on the right! And texting? No thumbs for me. Hold the phone with my right hand and text with the middle finger of the left! Tech NO logical, I am NOT!!!

Appreciate your posts @silverblue! Glad you’re able to work your technology a little bit because you’re a pleasure to have on this board!
