Game 20: Michigan at Nebraska Open Thread

Really? I feel like my recollection is that about 80% of his shots were pretty good shots to take. It’s just freaking remarkable how often it doesn’t go in. But for his stroke, that level of open, that spot on the floor - those look like good shots to me.

He’s perfect for the microwave role off the bench

Pretty much my thoughts, he’s an off the bench microwave type guy

Yea he had a lot of nice looks. He just doesn’t hit them.

His shot looks fantastic. And he’s genesally open when shooting. It just doesn’t go anywhere near the bottom of the net

I think people should probably prepare themselves that they may never see Cole play for Michigan again. We’ll always have that garbage time

Dave’s offensive contributions feel way different if he goes back to making spot-up 3s at 40% and prioritizing those shots in his shot selection. He has a long way to go as a play-creator but I also think we are spoiled by X and what he has convinced us a go-to creator is. His inability to stay in front of anyone is disappointing.

He comes in confidently strokes the first. Then even his third shot the step back with the shot clock winding down looked great and was right there, rimmed out. Rest of them weren’t even close.

He took three heavily contested 3s tonight

It’s tough for him to get those shots when he’s the one starting the offense when he’s in the game. I don’t know. I could be wrong but it feels like Brooks has been getting much better shot quality (i.e. catch and shoot) from 3 as of late.

Also, in general, DDJ didn’t have his best game today, but I still think the potential that we saw in the Purdue game exists somewhere. I don’t think it’s time to write him off yet as the future PG the next two years.

Eli played phenomenal tonight and was an absolute stabilizer in every way… also thought it was Teske’s best defensive game since Atlantis.

Wow, just looked at the box score and see we shot 29% from 3. I thought we were having a decent night from deep too :grimacing:

Eli is getting more good looks, and part of that is probably that’s more consistently his role. But if you watch DDJ off the ball, he’s just not very good at finding spots to create spacing; he definitely does less running off of screens, though.

No, I wouldn’t write off DDJ as the PG of the future, depending on future recruiting of course. I think he could be a PG the way pre-Blue-Collar-Dwalt was a PG: run the offense, but not taking on a ton of creating. Any optimism beyond that has to come from knowing that X’s ball-dominance is stunting DDJ’s game&practice reps, and then DDJ’s highschool tape

Yes, he did. Very good game. Intelligent, cerebral, hard working (as always). And calm, so calm out there.

I’m waiting for some folks to give love to my guy Eli. Conspicuously absent  Great grind out win tonight. Hopefully Livers and Simpson will be back soon nervous laughter

To be fair, 29% is an improvement over the last two games.

Is it possible with a documented injury, he could still get a redshirt?

If Bajema couldn’t get on the floor in this game, he won’t see any meaningful minutes this year. I hope he doesn’t transfer, I like his game and upside a lot.

While I think Michigan’s Atlantis run was driven partly by having advantage in experience and especially hot shooting, I do think that it serves as a reminder that this team can run great offense. And I think the team has been running good offense, for the most part, in conference play and in a conference known for great defense.

The defense falling off a cliff is really concerning, even if some it feels like simply playing snake-bitten. But it’s pretty clear that Juan knows how to coach offense and the overall impression of this team would be way different if A. Livers didnt get hurt and B. they hit good shots at a remotely plausible rate
