Game 16: Michigan at Minnesota Open Thread

Honestly Livers prevents us from having to pick our poison between small lineups that lack size and big lineups that lack spacing. Missing him makes this hard.

Cmon on with this. Get mad about not doubling or the rotations but I have no idea how someone could
Come to this conclusion.

Yeah I think you’re attributing the loss to the wrong things. It’s like people attributing Harbaugh not beating OSU to Harbaugh not wanting it more.

Of the two consecutive road games, this felt like the ā€œwinnableā€ one. A 2-4 conference record looks probable, not just possible. The only solace is that it is a really tough six game B1G schedule to start, and Livers missed half of those. I have to remember that it’s a rookie head coach and a team that underwent a bunch of attrtion: .500 in the league is still reasonably attainable, but gameplanning and execution needs to improve, sooner than later.

We made mistakes, we missed shots, we maybe got outcoached, we lost. But we were still only a 3 or two away under 4. It’s disappointing, but we execute good offense and can’t make the shots we need. Simpson outshot Teske, Wagner, and Johns at the rim. Inexcusable. We shot >50% from three for the game other than Brooks.

Great point about the misses at the rim. Felt like we left a ton of points there.

Luka Garza’s gonna be going for that 50 point game lol

Yeah X had 19 pts, 6 boards, 9 assts, and only 2 turnovers. This loss can’t be pinned on him. He scrapped the whole game.

I’m starting to get a Don Brown vibe from Juwan’s defense. At some point you have to adjust to what the other team is doing regardless of what your stubborn philosophy is.

And X didn’t take more shots than he should have either. He is #1 in the country in Assist/game despite the fact we can’t hit open shots regularly. For all the haters, we are really going to miss him.

I don’t understand how there could be X haters. Is he perfect no, but this team would bad without him and have zero chance of being a tournament team. He literally can’t come off the floor as is. He’s played 127 of the 130 mins possible in the last three games.

Could be worse – we could be a home team in the AFC Divisional Round.

In 78 total minutes the past three games, Johns has grabbed a combined 5 rebounds (0 offensive).

In other words, I’d say the high-energy ā€œspark plug off the benchā€ role suits him rather better than a starting role.

Just when we no longer have to worry about Goins, we have all this trouble with groins.

Was only able to watch the first 12ish minutes. Is the rest of the game worth watching already knowing the result?

This stretch has confirmed a few things… Brooks is who he is, Teske is not athletic enough to be anywhere near NBA caliber as people were suggesting lololol, and Nunez/Castleton might not be D1 players. Livers is sorely missed. Teske isn’t rewarding Howard for having faith in him on defense. Double teams need to happen moving forward. Howard is doing his best with a team that is deficient in shot creating, shooting and athleticism thanks to Beilein and NBA departures. It is what it is.

Lol ā€œthanks to Beileinā€

What’d that guy ever do for us

We were a real NIT dynasty before that guy showed up and ruined everything.

He just takes 3&4 star kids and turns them into pros…not every coach can do that!

He isn’t beyond reproach even with all his accolades.
