I’m not defending it, I’m comparing it. This is what NBA coaches do with rookies they or the organization has hopes for.
Teske is great at 2 things, moving laterally and keeping his arms up to wall and alter shots. He just hasn’t combined those skills against good post scorers
DDJ in Howard’s doghouse somehow?
Edit: could it be a classroom issue? I mean, he always brings energy and almost never throws it away.
That’s what makes Oturu taking him off the dribble from the arc even more disappointing.
This should be the opposite of letting the star get his points and shutting down every one else. I don’t think anyone else on Minnesota can beat us. Limit Oturu. Period.
Eli is barely playable, surely not a starter. Nunez deserves zero minutes.
Castleton did not take the leep that I expected.
This roster has some problem. Hopefully it is Coach Howard’s worst roster from a talent standpoint.
MSU about to lose by 30 to a team we just beat, if it helps the mood.
It does help.
Hot take alert! Barely playable? lol. Defense is half of the game, you know…
Disappointing finish to the half there…yeesh.
Idk what’s up with these lineups. It’s pretty clear for all to see that you can’t have Castleton and Davis on the floor at the same time.
I’m also unclear on why Nuñez continues to get minutes. DDJ should be getting the backup minutes at the 1-3 until Nuñez proves he can contribute.
Teske needs to look at his notes from last year, how can you be that massive, 270lbs, and give up the equivalent to a layup every other post up possession…yikes. Drop off to the block and beg Oturu to shoot jumpshots. And if you want to sell that offensive foul you turned and looked at the ref for mid-play, try hittting the deck and truly draw the foul.
Gotta turn it around, need less subs in the 2nd half.
Would mixing in some zone be a bad idea against a team like this that clearly can’t shoot? Outside of Kalishur, no one else is much of a threat from 3. Clog the paint so Oturu has no space to operate.
Oof
Lots of complaints about the lineups. I understand the frustration but we also did just go to double overtime a couple nights ago.
Nunez is not just a waste of minutes he is a complete negative on offense and defense. He simply cannot keep getting minutes.
Just had a strange thought, what if Teske had played this way against Gonzaga or UNC. Do we win?
This not doubling when Oturu has 2/3 their points is insane.
Much harder to double Oturu when he is facing up and driving.
I’m finding it tough to understand Juwan’s rotation right now but I’m also finding it tough to come up with ideas for answers. There’s some weird problems that are creating more problems right now.
Can’t take Teske off the floor because his backups are struggling, but fatigue may be affecting his defense.
Eli playing almost the entire half despite giving nothing on offense, but if Franz has to play the 4 with Johns in foul trouble, then Eli has to be in unless Nunez is entering the game or Castleton is playing the 4.
This roster is just limited right now without Livers. The only major gripe I have is that we absolutely need more DDJ, and my guess is he will play the entire stretch run of this game like he did against Purdue, but we’ll see
Get the ball out of his hands. Teske is a sieve. RUN ANOTHER GUY AT HIM!!
Am I the only one that screamed foul on that first entry pass to Wagner by Teske? C’mon.
I’d rather see the spot up jumper than the dunk.
