I think it should be noted that saying “Wagner will take Nuñez’s minutes” is not the same thing as saying “Nuñez will not develop” or “I am giving up on Nuñez”.
Based on martellis comments this morning, it sounds like Wagner has started to practice and shoot a bit but they are waiting for him to get full rotation on his jump shot before bringing him back.
Awesome! Have about a week until Iowa State. Seems like there’s a good chance he could play.
That’s fair.
Guessing this means he’s not taking jumpshots
Franz without a splint at the game tonight.
Looked like he was shaking hands with teammates during 2nd half warmups. He grabbed a ball under the basket and tossed it out with his right hand with some authority. He wasn’t favoring it or using his left.
This is the kinda intel we’re looking for!
I’ve assumed the whole time that it would be closer to 6 weeks, simply because you don’t want to take chances with an injured wrist. It needs to fully heal first. If he’s back in two weeks that’s fine with me.
If franz is as advertised we might end up with one of the best offenses in the country.with the way elI and livers are shooting imagine placing franz between them.
What are defenses going to do with this squad the way Xavier is getting into the lane at will and orchestrating this attack . Livers, brooks, and franz just camped on the three point line waiting for Xavier to hit the open guy. If they don’t help then x just feasts in the paint or leaves it for Colin or teske to finish.
As you can see I’m extremely excited for this team. It’s talented and deep. The best part is it shouldn’t peak until late when all the young guys are settled in and hopefully playing to their potential.
That’s what I think jem. No one will want to hear this but, while he’s going on the trip to the Bahamas I don’t know that we will see him on the floor much if at all. But, I could be wrong as I have been so many times in the past. I’d love him to play, even on a limited basis IF he’s ready, and I’d hate for him to play he is not, and I’m sure, if he isn’t ready the staff will hold him out. Patience, patience, patience, but boy, that’s hard!
And with the way X shot the three last night! His shot looked GOOD!

I agree with this. Every season, until I actually start watching games, I forget how many teams have only a couple of guys on the court who can consistently score. There are a lot of teams in that boat. If Franz is as good offensively as expected, we are the opposite of those teams, and will be really tough to guard.
FWIW Chris Balas said he expects Wagner to be available for Iowa St.
It’s coming from Balas so it’s not worth that much unfortunately.
Xavier (35) - DeJulius (5)
Brooks (34) - DeJulius (6)
Wagner (30) - Livers (3) - DeJulius (7)
Livers (32) - Johns (8)
Teske (28) - Castleton (12)
I’m still a little puzzled about Johns. Not that he’s playing bad but I was expecting a huge break out and for him to be a real problem offensively. He has the skill set. If he finds his swag and or dog within himself then he could be a matchup problem.
Someone needs to introduce him to one of the great poets of our time.
“Free your mind and your ass will follow”
- the great George Clinton
im still happy for Johns and Nunez to get time, we’re gonna be better for it later in the year
I really think Juwan and staff are working on that with him!
