One point to clarify that Coach Howard got wrong: Franz is not with the German senior menās national team currently but with the under 18 boys. He will not play in the World Championships in China in September but instead in the u18 European championships in Greece (July 27- August 4). Not sure if this is because of ignorance on his part or if heās just uninformed.

That makes a huge difference in timelines for him if he were get on campus - I.e. he would be showing up for fall semester and not summer likely
Correct. We talked about the U18s earlier in this thread and thatās the timeline I outlined in the story about Juwanās comments. I think that it was just a way for Juwan to talk about FIBA basketball in general.

I didnāt think Juwan mentioned the specific event one way or the other. He was just generally mentioning that Wagner had the opportunity to play for his country. Unless Iām missing something, I donāt recall him specifically saying the senior menās team and definitely nothing as specific as Franz playing in China in September.

He used the term āWorld Cupā though which caused some confusion. Thereās a 19u World Cup right now and then the senior World Cup coming up. Wagner is playing in an 18u European Championship event.

Meh. We all know by now that Juwan isnāt exactly a wordsmith. Seems harsh to infer that by using the term World Cup rather than Euro Championships that heās ignorant or uninformed. Iām sure he knows the timeframe of when Franz would be playing and therefore also knows what event he may be participating in.

I agree with you. I am certain he knows the timeframe in which Franz will be playing. In fact, Iām pretty sure he knows a lot more about Franz, his intentions, and his timeframe, than any of us do!

I have a questionāif Franz is indeed coming and Juwan knows it. . . what is the delay in the announcement? Is there any reason why it would have to wait until after this tourney heās repping Germany in?
