Far Too Early Projections - 2013/2014 B1G Basketball

May and June are the slow months for me at work, so I put together a fairly extensive Excel spreadsheet for the 2013-2014 B1G basketball season. Included in this spreadsheet were my projected post-season awards for next year. A summary:

All Big Ten First Team - Tim Frazier, Gary Harris, GR III, Drew Crawford and Adreian Payne

All Big Ten Second Team - Keith Appling, Aaron Craft, Austin Hollins, Sam Dekker and Mitch McGary

Freshman Team - Derrick Walton, Kendrick Nunn (Illinois), Zak Irvin, Noah Vonleh and Luke Fischer (both Indiana)

POTY - Gary Harris; Freshman of the Year - Derrick Walton; Defensive POTY - Aaron Craft; 6th Man of the Year - Caris LeVert

FWIW, my preliminary pick for B1G Regular Season Champ is OSU (unfortunately), but without knowing the schedule, this is rampant speculation. I’d be very interested to hear people’s thoughts because, honestly, why shouldn’t we project these awards nine months ahead of time?

I don’t think Fazier or Crawford sniff the first team.

And I don’t think Nunn will be the Illini’s best freshman either. I think that honor will go to former UM recruit Malcolm Hill. I also think Maverick Morgan will have a better year than Nunn too.

^ Don’t think Frazier could be in first team? He’s done it before.

Frazier could make first team for sure
