Pistons signed Zakai Zeigler for summer league.

It’ll be interesting to see what Langdon will do in the FA market. I expect him to bring back Beasley. Maybe Scroeder as long as he’s not expensive and willing to have a role reduction. Expecting THJ and BBall Paul to walk. Lainer is a THJ replacement on the roster spot. There’s rumor that Langdon is looking at filling the PF spot so the Pistons wouldn’t have to rely on Tobias there.

The idea that the Pistons need a backup PG to backup Cade sounds good in theory, but in reality, he’s looking at 10-15 min per game as the 4th G and 3rd PG in the rotation. The issue is who realistically can they sign to be the backup PG in this role? Schroeder would be ideal if he wants his role to be reduced with Ivey healthy, but he’s looking at Sacramento because PG minutes are available for him.

Every decision Schroder has made in his career has been to maximize his salary and playing time

I doubt he’s taking a role reduction and/or less money

Probably looking for a vet who’s fine with riding the bench most nights. Unless they trade Sasser, whoever they bring in is more likely to be the 5th guard in the rotation (Cade, Ivey, Beasley, Sasser, FA PG).

I think Deion Wright or Cory Joseph (ironically both former Pistons) fit that billing from looking at this summers list of free agents. Regardless, I think we’re more so looking for a break glass in case of emergency option rather than someone who’s actually going to play. Ivey coming back diminishes the role Schrƶder played last year quite a bit.

Edit: rereading your comment, I think we’re saying the same thing

Exactly. The most likely move is bring back Beasley. Fully expecting Schroeder to sign with the Kings.

Yeah, we are saying the same thing.

There are subset of fans who thinks that a backup PG would be backing up Cade and Ivey playing off the ball. That likely isn’t true in reality. Cade and Ivey will be playing 30+ min a game and Beasley will be playing 25 min a game when either Cade or Ivey is on the floor.

Except that time he turned down $84 million so he could sign for $5.5 million.

The more I’m thinking about it the more I really like what the Hawks did the past couple days. Everybody knows they ripped off Dumars and Weaver but Porzingis I think is a genuinely good player and even if nothing works for the Hawks they’ll be able to get something for him. Best case he’s healthy enough to be a nice playoff piece as this team grows a core around/figures out what to do with Trae.

Definitely the best I’ve felt about the franchise in a while. Since the ECF run

The new FO seems solid. Or at least way better than the worst ones

Particularly since it coincides w Landry Fields getting canned, yeah

The Hawks are having a good off-season. They seem to have a plan, and it makes sense for the current personnel. They just need to stay healthy, and they can make noise in the Eastern Conference. Losing Jalen Johnson for the season was a huge blow for the team.

Cross Naz Reid off the list of potential pistons

I think you’re conflating a massive mistake for his plan

I think KP is somewhat cooked but the price (Niang and a second rounder) is way worth the chance he’s not

What is MLE now? These seems pretty close to 5x MLE. I guess I would have expected this contact to be 5 for 150. But obviously … congrats to all associated. Esp the Reed family.

(If needed, I would be happy to manage a pool of a diversified low-cost funds for 0.25 percent of the balance outstanding.)

When he plays he’s super productive, which is same as it ever was for Porzingis. OTOH if you need him to play 2K minutes you’re in big trouble. Feel like the Hawks don’t and now they have a shot in the playoffs they might not have otherwise.

Lonzo to the Cavs

I like this for the Cavs. When healthy, he provides 3 and D plus passing at G for the Cavs.

I don’t understand the trade for the Bulls. What was the purpose of this trade? Didn’t they get an offer for a 1st plus a player for Zo, and they turned it down?

The Bulls brass has said verbatim they don’t want rookies at this stage of their ā€œbuildā€, they want young players with experience

Which, Okoro is that
