Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 2)

There’s rumor coming from one sketchy source that the Bulls is reportedly a team to watch for Beal. It would be on brand for the Bulls to take on his contract with the NTC. However, I don’t believe it because it would require Beal to approve it. The Suns are determined to get rid of him and buyout is on the table.

hahahahaha this is the only thing that makes sense is the Bulls finding a way to make their team dumber. Maybe they can include Buzelis in the trade!

Seeing rumors that Boston is listening to offers for Brown and White. I can’t imagine they trade Brown unless it’s an unbelievable return.

I would be cool with it as well. It would still have plenty of room to bring back Beasley as well.

I think there is an argument that they should have traded White rather than Porzingis (basically, they dealt Porzingis at his nadir, White would have brought more back, and both are questionable to be at their current performance level in two years)

But having done the KP trade I have a hard time seeing them deal more, if they do, I’d have to think it’s a godfather offer

They accomplished their goal on getting under the 2nd apron. The only way they’re wanting to trade some more is to get under the 1st apron which is about $7 mil.

I think giving up Jalen Brown for that is a pretty big cost.

I think it’s tough to move Jaylen Brown just because it’s hard to match $50M in salary and Brooklyn is the only team with cap space to facilitate a deal as a 3rd team. Using Detroit as an example, they’d need to give up a package like Tobias + Stewart + Holland to match salaries and include 2-3 firsts? I don’t know if that’s attractive enough for Boston while at the same time Detroit is losing 3 rotation players to get back 1 that isn’t making them an immediate title contender. I think most teams fall into that situation. If there were 5 teams under the cap willing to take on some salaries for 2nd round picks that changes things, but there just aren’t teams in that position right now.

Sounds like Schroeder re-signing with the Pistons isn’t likely. The Kings might be the destination. Make sense since they need a PG and there’s minutes to be had there as opposed to being the 4th G in the rotation with the Pistons.

Beasley is the Pistons #1 priority to bring back which makes sense because of shooting.

My Pistons board for #37 and UDFA two-way contracts:
Sion James
Alijah Martin
Eric Dixon
RJ Luis Jr
Max Shulga
Victor Lakhin
Matthew Cleveland
Andrew Carr

Matthew Cleveland?? Don’t tell @umhoops

Is there a reward for tanking in the G-League?

Edgecomb and Broome is a fun draft

Report: Masai Ujiri out as Raptors president

Big news

not that shocking, this team really sort of lost its vision, and Masai went from one of the more prominently positive GM’s to siging guys because they’re Canadian, which isn’t a great rubric for success.

Will def be interested to see what kind of reporting comes out in the wake of the firing. Really seemed to lose his way for no obvious reason.

timing is odd if nothing else

My friend is angry but more about the message and idiot owner Ed Rogers. Ownership has been cutting costs getting rid team presidents for TFC/Leafs and now Raptors. They don’t believe in organizational hierarchy instead they just want a GM to go to ownership woth moves.

Yeah. You’d think it would’ve happened before the draft. That is, unless something went down on draft night.

A few years ago he wanted a contract extension MLSE dragged their feet. He had 1 year left.
