They’re 7-4 versus Q1/Q2. Michigan for comparison is 7-8. That’s usually the key metric for seeding.

Yeah, people often look at Q1/Q2 combined. The difference is that USC is 3-3 in Q1 games, Michigan is 4-8 (and 3-0 in Q2).

Michigan’s resume is lacking some of that Q2 volume… and suffering from playing so many Q1 games (which a team is always going to lose some).

Michigan will play 18 Q1 games in the regular season based on today’s NET… that’s pretty insane.

For comparison… Here are the team sheets:

Using the NET Forecast on Bart’s site, I think 18 is on pace to be the most Q1 games in the country.

That was a dirty play. He checked the defender AFTER landing on the ground. I would call that a flagrant 2.

UNC hanging by a thread in Q2. Hopefully they stay there

Garza 2nd, Cassius 10th. No Oturu (I assume team record plays a big role in that).

DePaul is KILLING my SeasonLongPool team. Not sure if that says more about me for picking DePaul or DePaul.

They were carrying the squad early too.

They were my big east pick in the second one I filled out. Butler was in my first! The initial one I filled out was great with my sleeper picks but absolutely horrendous on my big value picks, I had Unc and Florida ouch.

My better team…

Nike lawyer doesn’t deny payments to high school players:

Real talk: outside of UNC is there a more disappointing team in college hoops than Florida? Getting run at home by a bad Georgia squad.

Welp, Florida heard me and turned it on to beat Georgia.

Not a great day for Michigan, honestly. Creighton loses to a Providence team that is working its way onto the bubble. Fellow bubble teams Minnesota, Purdue, Notre Dame, Virginia, Florida, Memphis, and NC State all pick up victories.

I don’t really remember what happened in the recruitment for this guy but remember when we were recruiting Jarron Cumberland back in 2016 ( possibly 2015)? I know coach b was pretty interested, no? Watching the kid play now and have seen him a ton over the last few years and oh man this is a kid I wish they had stayed hard on.

When they were recruiting him back then I remember really liking his game and thoght he was undervalued. Great shooter, extremely crafty, very built along with a wide body, you could tell he’d be a great scorer. He was very crafty and understood how to use his body to get to the rim and in the lane with great touch. His ability to use his size along his elite body control made up for the fact that he didn’t have elite quickness or elite hops. He wasn’t a bad athlete either though .

Realky wish we prioritized him and stayed on him. Does anyone remember who we went after instead? Was it Ibi? Did we just take Ibi because he sat down first?

I remember his list of teams wasn’t elite or stacked with blue bloods. I mean he signed with cincy… I think he was ranked in the 45-70 range. Type of guy that was right in coaches bs wheel house with a skill set that matches too. Imagine the last three years with Cumberland on the wing too.

Also if anyone is watching this cincy-Wichita st game this has been absolutely bannas. Tune into ESPN if you are free. Two point game with 12 to go. Game changing leads all game. Crazy.

Note Cumberland might have just hit the Game winner! Down two drives the lane, eats the contact and is on the line to take the lead for the and one.

Ps… he of course drains the go ahead free throw. This kid is a stone cold killer. I think he could be a sleeper second round pick in the nba. Just knows how to play and is an odd tweener.

Five most disappointing teams in college hoops

  1. Unc
  2. Florida
  3. Washington
  4. Virginia ( although I didn’t think they were a top 25 team)
  5. Michigan st ( yea I said it. How does a team in the top 20 Make this list? By being what I and many others thought was the preseason number one, a shoe in to win the big ten, and almost a lock to get to the final 4)

Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions that I’m missing? This looks about right to me imo.

I thought Florida and Unc were top five teams. They were two of my preseason final 4s. Instead Unc is going to miss the tourney and possibly finish under 500. Hell they look worse with Cole half the time. He hasn’t looked very good in pretty much any game I’ve seen. I don’t see this top 3 pick and top pg prospect in college.

Florida is almost more puzzling. They add blackshear, arguably the best power forward in college hoops and a guy who was almost certainly a first or second team all Americani. Then you add two very promising young guards I thought were due to blow up in nehmbard and Locke who I figured would provide elite shooting at worst and most likely great scoring all around.

Then they add Two five stars in recruiting a five star pg in Mann and a stud five star sf in Scottie Barnes who you think slides into start at sf and fills out a stacked lineup. Add to that a good big off the bench in Payne and a Johnson twin who was a big recruit who played well last year.

They had what looked a great 8 man rotation with shooters, ball handlers, athletes, elite high post play . Yet their on the bubble.

Washington might not have gotten lots of pub but if you look they had a top recruiting class with one of the top two college ready guys in Stewart and another top 5 or 6 five star in McDaniel . No other school had such an elite one two punch coming in. Add five star green coming from Kentucky, return of carter and Wright former 4 stars who are now upperclassmen, elite defenders and I’m Carter’s case flashes of elite scoring. Then a ton of other 4 stars on battle ect. They were at least projected top 25 with potential for more but they might go below five hundred after opening up by beating Baylor in Alaska ( only loss) with about 7 losses where they had the lead with under two.

Virginia was honestly just overrated imo due to being a defending champ and arguBly the best coach in the game but they were preseason top ten in most eyes so they go here. They might miss the tourney too.

Who else you got. I just thought of Xavier late. Thought they were final 4 sleepers or that they’d st least make their second weekend run

I’m trying to remember what happened with this recruitment. I tried to search for the old info, but couldn’t find it. If I recall, Jarron was a Michigan lean but I think Michigan may have wanted him to take an extra class or something to get his grades up before offering and he didn’t want to do it when he could commit to Cincy without the stipulations. Then after he went off the board, Michigan turned to Ibi Watson.

I agree with your top 5. Texas Tech was preseason top 10 too and they are now unranked.

What do you guys thinking of Arizona? As scuzzy as they are, I’ve been watching them a bunch lately. This might be the year Miller gets over the hump. That could be partly due to the down year overall and that it appears to be wide open but this zone team is really really talented and the freshman are starting to blend and get in a rythym together. They added this crafty fifth year senior transfer from I believe Cornell In Getting ( think that’s how you spell it) and he has really added a nice punch off the bench with nice post moves, high iq, and just alotcif hustle and hard work on the glass.

Millers teams are always a tease and fall short of what everyone thinks but this feels kind of different. They’re a little less hyped than past teams ( only ranked 22) so their flying under the radar a bit which is good imo. Less pressure ect on the young kids.

Also the pac 12 is much better than it has been in the last 5 or 6 years, honestly maybe more. I think this will help them be much more battle tested than In previous years when they’d cruise through a joke of a conference and maybe play 2-3 teams that are any good or that will even be in the tourney.

Then they get to the tourney and face a tough battle tested team , have to deal with adversity and go down a round or three to early.

Mannion is a stud ball handler/ creator and scorer, josh green is an elite athlete and wing scorer, Nnaji has been a revelation and is a top big man in the country period that alone as freshman. Might be the best player on the team.

Jamari baker is a 4 star wing who came from Kentucky and has provided shooting and scoring. Gettings has given them a rock solid 4 now ( missed early part of the year) who scores facing up in mid range, downlow ect. They’ve won much more since he started to play and start.

Ira lee a former top recruit now off the bench in a high energy rim running roll/ shot blocker as opposed to a starter and main big. Much better role for him.

Add in seniors Dylan smith and guard Nd grad transfer max Hazzard who is a great scorer/ shooter and was a go to star on the Uc Irvine anteaters who made noise all last year and you got great depth , elite talent, experience and just a nice blend.

Great blend of young 5 stars and seniors/ grad transfers. Now that their blending and figuring their roles out this could really work.
