College Basketball Open Discussion

I told some friends that if we beat Gonzaga, we’d probably be ranked somewhere between 12-14 and if we lost but played well we’d be somewhere between 16-20. But honestly, after watching yesterday and today, I believe we should be in the top ten. Now, will we be ranked that high, who knows? Rankings, hmmmm.

I actually think they’re going to get the love. The way they just handled two top teams will be accounted for.

Also if they watched the games and just the box score they’d have to inflate further. Too many guys who were unknowns showing the insane depth.

Love it when Michigan beats a top team, that just means all of a sudden that team isn’t as good as everyone thought

The beauty is this team has a ton of room to grow. Shooting numbers are going to regress but learning Juwan’s system and young guys continuing to grow (especially Wagner), they haven’t even touched their ceiling to peak. Makes me feel better against last year’s peaking as you mentioned.

I know it didn’t show up in the stat sheet, but I really liked what I saw from Wagner today, especially getting in the paint off the bounce. I love that one slow-paced drive he had. Seemed to know he was going to have the length if he could just get enough separation, and was able to dribble his way into it. Scaling up stuff like that is going to be really wonderful if it happens.

I absolutely agree with this!

I think they are gonna get the love too. If only to hype up a top 5 (??? or whatever the number is) matchup on Tuesday.

On 2nd thought maybe not as they don’t want to step on Duke/MSU’s toes!

Agreed. That’s why I think it can be avoided as well.

Providence just went 0-3 in their non-conference tournament, losing to powerhouse programs Pennsylvania, Long Beach State, and College of Charleston.

sdsu killed Creighton last night but Creighton is about to hang 50 on Texas Tech in the first half

is it safe to say that other teams had figured out Texas Tech’s defense?

This makes me laugh because I just read a tweet from some random Carolina fan saying that we’ve peaked and all the teams we’ve just beaten are going to get better while we can only go down from here. Yeah, the team with the coach that has seven games under his belt is peaked.

It’s an easy outsider narrative! For those who follow, it’s actually scary how much better they can get this year. They’re going to hit their rough patch/patches, maybe even in the next two weeks with this brutal schedule, but in no way did we see them just peak and play their best ball.

Nimari should have stuck with his original plan to watch some games before deciding in December! Michigan is playing the exact style that he said he wanted to play and they are winning impressively. Oh well!

I agree with everybody on ceiling. I have no question marks about X, Teske, Livers, Brooks, or DDJ.

Our ceiling will be defined by whether or not we can get 2 or 3 of the guys like Franz, Castleton, Johns, and Nunez to make a jump. They have all shown very positive flashes. I think it is actually likely 3 of those guys are going to really make a jump. Franz is just rusty. Johns and Castleton have actually been pretty good already. Hell, Davis even looked like a serviceable backup. We already have decent depth I think. I like how Howard plays a lot of guys. It will pay off in March.

No it’s not

I think it is more than Texas Tech has a brand new team.

sadly it had nothing to do with the style of basketball.
