With Locke and Nembhard, I think that’s a safe bet.
Yes very surprising. They were one of my final 4 teams. I think they will get it together. After reviewing the fl st game that loss looks better to me. State lost a lot from last year but they did have some nice talent left over I forgot about. Forrest, polite, Gray, and Walker.
Looking back on it Fl st had a really deep / talented team last year.
My gawd Bill Walton is insufferable to listen to. He is doing the UCLA/UNLV game on Pac-12 Network. UCLA can do no wrong in his opinion! I just don’t get why he is employed?
Bill is the reason I watch PAC 12 after dark.
Houston got Jordan Poole’d by TJ Haws and BYU Friday night. It was a crazy finish to a fascinating game.
Joe Girard with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals in 31 minutes for Syracuse tonight. 7-8 FG, 5-6 from three, 5-5 FT. Granted, it was against Seattle. Not bad, though, for a kid who took quite a tumble in the rankings.
I said this last year. It was kind of weird. He went from overrated to underrated in the matter of five or six months. I thought his fall was pretty ridiculous. It seemed clear to me that he was going to be a nice college player, particularly in a situation where teams can’t key in on him. He is such an elite shooter that he is going to be effective in most situations.
Nice to see Michigan inching up the Kenpom rankings when they don’t play. Up to 26 now (Sunday afternoon). Where did they start the year? 32?
They were 21st before the APP St game
Kenpom rankings are not very accurate until a larger number of games have been played.
How is MSU #1 after losing to KY who subsequently lost to an Evansville team ranked worse than 200?
Pretty mind boggling, isn’t it?!?
Because they lost by a reasonable margin to a top 10 team on a neutral floor … and went out and picked up a road win over a top 20 team. And were preseason number one.
Ohio State are #8 in KenPom and #5 in Torvik. Louisville are #2 in KenPom and #3 in Torvick as well.
Michigan are up to 25 in KenPom with the Florida loss as they drop to 29. Florida scuffling early.
If I remember right, they have been #1 on Kenpom since Day 1. I don’t understand how KY didn’t rate higher than MSU after they beat them.
I have watched all the MSU games so far this year and I would say they do NOT look to be a #1 team.
Because Kenpom is heavily influenced by preseason projections this early in the season.
You’re right. They dropped to 32 after App St.
Creighton has the #4 Kenpom offense right now.
They went 14-29 from two and 13-29 from three. Not bad.
Teams with more votes in polls than Michigan:
Evansville
Florida (with 2 losses and a close win over Towson)
Vermont (I like them, but St. Johns is a Nebraska level team)
FSU (has a win over struggling Florida, lost to Pitt)
Polls are dumb, but think it’s odd Michigan gets so little love considering we’re a top 15 program that has a couple well known upper classmen, is undefeated, and beat a solid tourney level team by double digits. At this point I don’t see a path for us to be ranked soon outside of beating UNC. Getting 3rd in Atlantis may do it.
