I’m sure people HATED Tim Hardaway Sr shots when THJ was here
Gotta think that people may get a bit annoyed with all the Juwan-Michigan Years footage after a while too. Though I love it
Thanks Rothstein
Oh Rothstein…
That being said I also don’t mind the idea of early conference games. But what the ACC is doing with opening with conference games is stupid. Teams should get a game or two under their belts first
He’s not getting paid for what he does, right? I’ve never seen a job title of “Eater of Internet Space.”
Dont hate on our big dumb robot dog
Watched Anthony Edwards’s highlights from the Georgia opener and I’m very impressed. He struggled with turnovers and didn’t have the most efficient shooting night, but I really like his game. Super smooth and went four-for-seven from three.
On Pardon My Take the other day, they brought up how miserable he looked when talking about the NFL the other day on TV, and he mentioned that the whole time he was thinking about whether the American conference could get 4 bids again this year.
I would have guessed he was thinking about TSA pre-check
CLEAR is TSA pre check on steroids
I have to say that opening the season with conference games definitely worked for promoting the new ACCN. I actually took time to find the channel last night which is not with other sports channels on FIOS.
To be fair I would have watched North Carolina to see Cole Anthony last night even if they were playing Athletes in Action.
I tuned in to watch Virginia at Syracuse, not a fun game to watch though.
Which is kinda my point. Most of these early season games aren’t appealing from a basketball standpoint, which is why it makes more sense to jump in with a few warm-up/buy games before a key conference match-up
Not sure Virginia/Syracuse would ever be fun to watch. I get the idea that teams want to be ready, but I think anything to make the start of college hoops more exciting is a good thing. I loved the tip off marathon too.
I’d even like to see people get creative… why not a mid-major showcase with some top mid-major programs in a similar format to the Champs Classic?
minimal pre-league action in EPL and others. might as well get on with it.
Scheduling non-conference teams is not entirely under the control of ACC. Only conference games are entirely under their control and guaranteed to draw viewers. It most likely a one-year thing.
Not sure I follow what you are saying. Non-conference scheduling is on individual teams, other than challenges.
Why do you think the ACC openers will be a one-time thing? Seems similar to the Big Ten’s December window that was created to fit 20 games.
The college hoops calendar is really tricky and there are some magical times but I appreciate people willing to experiment a bit.
I could be totally wrong. But my impression is that these games were scheduled to help the launch of ACC network. This is what Boeheim said after the game
“I wish we’d have won, so when I say what I’m gonna say it wouldn’t matter, [but] you never want to play these league games early. It’s stupid. It’s just a money grab,” “They scheduled games for TV, for the TV contracts, so you gotta play games early, and somebody had the brilliant idea of opening up the first game with a league game. I just don’t think it’s good. I don’t think it’s smart. You want to build up to the league. The league’s the most important thing. So why would you play the first game of the year in the league? It makes no sense.”
