No, UT leases practice facilities in Austin. My apologies for the lack of clarity.

Beilein will take the Loyola job after Porter Moser goes to Indiana. With the succession plan being his son Patrick. All of this from unconfirmed sources

THIS would make a lot of intuitive sense. I advocated for Beilein to Marquette the other day, but this would offer many of the same trappings–Jesuit Catholic school. . . with added benefits. Closer still to A2, less pressure, presumably very congenial environment for Beilein and (perhaps) his son. I will pull hard for Loyola if this comes to pass.

I didn’t think about the Patrick Beilein part of it but I did think yesterday after hearing the Porter Moser to IU stuff that JB just might end up as the next coach at Loyola. I think it would be as near perfect as it could get for 68 year old Coach B and knowing the kind of player he recruits, the culture he builds, etc. The succession plan with Patrick would be great for continuity and for family if Patrick came in as number one assistant with the plan that he was the coach in waiting. Of course that’s assuming all the major stakeholders were on board, the AD, the university president, and, certainly Sister Jean!

Collins’ contract expires in 2025. Maybe jump to NW in a few years?

Are they still using this building? If so, it’s right next to their current on-campus arena. So with location not being a factor, the only thing would matter is the quality of the facilities. Whether Texas is the owner or they rent from some third party is just not relevant. That won’t have any impact whatsoever on the coaches or players day to day lives.

They’re also building a new basketball arena with plans to build a new practice facility nearby, right? Im not predicting Beard to go to Texas or anything of that nature, I just don’t understand how Texas owning or renting the facilities would even be something to consider.

These odds keep changing by the day. IU is either doing a really good job or really bad job of keeping things secret.

How does UT not have its own facility?

Football is king. Apathetic fan base (and admin) when it comes to basketball.

I literally just saw that and was wondering if it might be an April Fools.

Wow. Spin up the carousel. Who are the likely candidates?

Oh yeah, you can’t make announcements like this on April 1st. Now I fully expect a follow-up statement announcing a 10-year contract extension.

But in all seriousness, what a year to go out. Can’t imagine this season was the sendoff he had in mind.

would not surprise me, unc is very insular like michigan football

Alot of good jobs opened up this carousel.

UNC fans have always mentioned Wes Miller as the guy they like, although I imagine they saw it more as something a couple years down the line

Roy has had a terrific career, 3 national titles, 9 final fours, 18 regular season conference titles, 8 conference tournament titles. It’s ironic he goes out in the 1st round, the only time his teams have lost in round 1 of the tournament. I can see why he would retire this year was tough on all coaches and players and he’s 70 years old. He still has a life to live after coaching.

I laughed

And then the coach of the plucky upstart that beat Michigan in the tournament, i.e. Mick Cronin, to Illinois?
