I feel like the fact Michigan had no actual COVID positive players makes a big difference in regards to the layoff. Seems like if you actually had players dealing with recovery from COVID there might be more of an issue returning from the layoff
There’s a new #2…
Was just coming to say the same thing. Michigan’s break may be balanced out in that they couldn’t get in a gym for 2 weeks, but teams recovering from the actual virus may have a longer road.
Come to think of it, that could have a lot to do with MSU’s “resurgence”. Look at guys like Langford and Brown who were known to recently have COVID and they seem more energetic and moving a lot better than they were a few weeks ago.
Me trying to figure out the ramifications of this Baylor loss
Hello #2 ranking
Now lets go Loyola Marymount!
Can Amazon deliver a Loyola Marymount hat to me in time before this Gonzaga game starts?
Can’t expect a team to look good in game 2 off a pause
Marymount leading 4-1 early. STOP THE COUNT
Ok, so it turns out that I watched parts of the wrong Baylor game. Unless we play them and they look like this, which I don’t consider likely but wouldn’t be upset about.
Honestly, whether we nudge ahead of them in seeding is kind of irrelevant. There’s a really good chance we’ll lose another time or two before the tourney anyway, and even if we don’t, we’re probably not leapfrogging Gonzaga. Get some hardware, get a 1 seed, win games in the tournament. None of this matters if we choke in the Sweet Sixteen.
So the question is, does Baylor belong in the conversation with Gonzaga and Michigan?
Well at least I know that Gonzaga fans are probably pissed at this commentary about Michigan possibly being the best team as they play another team ranked 100+
Had a curious thought today - if Juwan wasn’t a players coach and had played our starters down to the last minute all year, would we be ahead of Baylor in most metrics and possibly on par or ahead of Gonzaga as well?
So you watched Baylor tonight for the first time and haven’t seen Gonzaga, yet you are making a declaration Michigan is the best team?
Kind of nit picking, but I hate the liberal use of the word choke. Why can’t teams just lose, why does it always have to be a choke. It doesn’t sound fun now but if we get a one seed yet ultimately lose in the Sweet Sixteen the season as a whole would be a resounding success
It would be a very good season, but seasons are judged by tournament success. If we earn a #1 seed, a SS loss is going to be a significant disappointment and wasted opportunity. And it will definitely color my evaluation of the season.
It’s pretty simple, really: Indiana won the B1G in 2013. They beat us twice. They were very good.
They lost in the SS. We went to the final. I wouldn’t trade our season for theirs. Not even close.
You don’t get teams like this every day. Win while we’ve got them. Win in the tournament. It might not be fair, but it’s reality: By far, more than anything else, the tournament is what matters.
Come on, LMU - you owe us from 1990.
The mullet on LMU #34 is simply bodacious
The Zags have lost the first 10 minutes. When you play in the WCC that should count.
If it’s possible to will a team to victory, Loyola Marymount would win by 30 because of me. It’s possible I have no effect on the outcome though.
