I know it doesn’t mean much but all the same I’m totally baffled that anyone could think Virginia is the 24th best team in the country. Glacial pace of play aside I’m generally a fan of Tony Bennett but I’m not feeling his squad this season.
Same. I’ve never been a Kihei Clark fan and never understood why gets so much national attention. He had an amazing pass to help them beat Purdue in the Elite 8 but he’s just not a good offensive player and has never shown me any reason to think he’d develop it. He’s discount Aaron Craft.
Coverage from the night itself. Bonus: Highlights of Wake Forest beating Duke and Michigan beating Ohio State.
I like that Bufaflo isn’t just ceding to them that they are THE upstate NY program. They maybe a mid major but attacking them and at least convincing themselves they are on the same level and trying to take it to them is a good move… Maybe they can win some other recruiting battles for Upstate kids considering both. Fake it til you make it. it was a really fun game to watch actually.
If anyone has time to check the highlights it was interesting. Not much defense but neither team could miss.
Griffin looked really good for Cuse and has all year. I don’t remember him being that impressive for Illinois. Glad he’s gone.
That’s right, we were in 1st place all year in the Big Ten and then fell apart in the last 2 weeks. Fisher’s teams just could not win the conference title for some reason.
Yep, SU is probably feeling the heat from UB. It’s safe to say that the football team has been better the past few years and they’re afraid of the hoops team surpassing…but that’s a stretch.
Bruce Pearl approves.
#18 FSU AKA the highest ranked ACC team lost by 10 on the road to Clemson. Clemson has actually been pretty solid this year (wins over Miss St., Purdue, Maryland and Alabama and only loss to VT) so they may take over the mantle as highest rated ACC team next week.
If only the palace hadn’t been imploded! Plenty of Michigan venues, and they could’ve prepped auburn hills for months!
I can’t get over that the Palace is gone. Maybe it wasn’t in the best location but it was a perfectly fine arena.
Gonzaga scheduled a bunch of nobodies and while they’re obviously winning by a lot, without watching I’d guess they’re starting to get bored. If they lose a game in WCC play it’ll be due to complacency.
They did schedule their fair share of nobodies, but in 9 games they have also played KenPom’s 5th, 7th, 12th, 20th ranked teams while having the game against kenpom’s #1 ranked team cancelled due to covid. Pretty impressive slate for a WCC team.
Yeah, I should have noted that I wonder if they had to scramble and just find what they could once they had to pause due to COVID. In the past eight days they’ve had games on consecutive days against bottom feeder Northwestern State and games last night and tonight against more baby seals (Northern Arizona and D1 newcomer Dixie State), plus a blowout of overrated Virginia.
Tulsa upset undefeated Houston tonight
Good response by Pat Forde in Sports Illustrated.
In addition to the laughable post season ban, Arizona’s statement shifts the blame for violations away from Miller onto his assistants. That’s even worse than the weak self-imposed ban.
If the NCAA falls for this crap with Arizona and LSU then there’s no point even trying to play by the rules.
I think the only way the NCAA can make this better is if they blanket waive all investigations from the past, and start anew with harsh rules with harsh penalties. Starting with a clean slate would certainly irk some people, but I’d rather be semipissed for a brief moment than to keep continuing with this BS.
Dan Dakich said it best “The only thing that gets a coach fired is losing”. I know some folks don’t like Dakich, but this is a pretty good rule of thumb for major collegiate sporting programs. I always go back to Emmert being the former President @ LSU, when I think about whether the NCAA will penalize Will Wade & the football program (who also self-imposed a post-season ban this pandemic year).
