That’s a great point that I didn’t realize. LSU is truly going to set the tone. They got caught red handed in both football and basketball with MAJOR violations. I don’t see how the NCAA can do anything short of “lack of institutional control” and throw the book at them. And yet…I doubt they will. Probably add another year of post season ban on both programs and take a couple of scholarships.
BGSU just beat a Jason Preston-less Ohio team on the road 83-75 to move to 2-0 in the MAC. BGSU, Ball State and Toledo are all 2-0 to start the season and lead the MAC.
I ended up listening to the end of this game on the radio since the ESPN start tracker was wrong all game. The score was (and last I checked still is wrong even with the game ending), and at one point listed an Ohio player with 6 fouls despite the fact that he was on the floor.
Preston out with an injury? I read an article on him a few weeks ago and man, I hope like hell that he makes it to the NBA and shows out. Really a great story and I am rooting hard for that guy.
Yeah sounds like it. I didn’t looks like it was something that was announced just before the game so I don’t know much about the severity.
Moses Moody is so good
Someone help me understand this: #7 Tennessee versus #12 Missouri is on the SEC Network while an unranked matchup of Florida/Vandy is on ESPN2.
lol, UNC lost to Georgia Tech.
Collin Castleton with 23 tonight on 11/13 shooting
Preseason ACC POTY Garrison Brooks scored 9 points tonight…off the bench.
Good for CC. He’s been a very low usage guy for them on offense. But looks like he’s reaching some of that defensive potential we saw.
Such a weird year so far with UNC, Duke, MSU, and Kentucky in the middle of rough stretches. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Also…how exactly did the pollsters decide to rank Duke #20 this week when they are 3-2 and only have the obligatory win over ND on their resume? Losing at home to MSU looks even worse now.
Between COVID making it harder to practice and the G-League Select, the team of one-and-doners model is taking a hit this year. Hopefully, Michigan can take advantage.
I agree with you completely.
It is ridiculous that the AP rankings include Duke. It also is ridiculous that Kenpom ranks Duke as high as they do. Kenpom didn’t change the ranking of Duke hardly at all while it became apparent that their 6 point loss to MSU was first considered a loss to a top 5 team and now should be considered a loss to one of the worst teams in the Big Ten.
Kenpom is not a “resume” model it’s a predictive model. The model probably thinks, based on historical data (returning production, recruiting rankings, etc) that Duke’s roster will figure things out in the long run, but MSU and Kentucky are in trouble.
Likewise there just isn’t much data on Duke because they canceled so many games. It is possible that they practiced a ton the last couple of weeks and will get better faster with their young talent. It is also possible that we will get to see another blue blood struggle inexplicably and I will cackle with glee.
You realize Kenpom is an adjusted efficiency model and not a dude picking and choosing where to place teams, right? They’ve fallen after every game they’ve played. They’ve played a single game since December 9th. With that sample size, of course they haven’t fallen much.
Yes, the location was not good but it was still a very nice building.
Mods feel free to delete this if it’s inappropriate, but this has been making the rounds today. A top 50 UNLV commit, Zaon Collins, was arrested for a DUI resulting in the death of the other driver. Really sad to see stuff like this.
Washington is absolute dog****
Was about to post the same thing. How much leeway does Hopkins have left after what will be two very bad seasons in a row?
