Tough call as I don’t think Castleton’s collection of skills is ever going to align right to be consistently successful. Happy for the kid that he’s starting and will have a rotation role - just not sure what the ceiling is. I think he can shoot…but he’s seemed reluctant to do so. He’s not a good ball handler to be a stretch-5 really. He’s not physical at all and while he has some shot-blocking potential he gets himself into bad position to be able to use it.
DDJ is really hard for me to figure out. I squint and I see the potential for a Eli Brooks like career where he’s a valuable combo guard who hits open shots, can play some point but not consistently, will work his butt off on defense (though is smaller), but is always going to be someone you want as your #3 guard, not necessarily your starter. I think DDJ’s optimal role would be like freshman Derrick Walton - effectively the PG, but spends more time as a catch-and-shoot guy on a team with more lead players.
I think both would have had a role on Michigan this year had they stayed…but neither would have started like they are at their new schools. Happy that they’re getting a chance.
One thing I have noticed with Castleton and it hasn’t changed is his hands aren’t great. He’s not really strong ripping down boards and getting to a pass either. He wasn’t bad today but it was also Army and they don’t have a lot size.
Does not look like Castleton has played yet? DDJ seems to have struggled in his first game. While Christopher started slow in his first game he seems to be on track now.
Wondering if we will miss any of the transfers? Or those we thought were coming?
I have a fairly large bet on Wvu plus 8.5 and a smaller money line bet plus 330.
This foul trouble for wvu is killing me. I almost didn’t play it because the line was so large. I couldn’t figure out how Wvu was getting 9 ( I came in late and it dropped to 8.5). Games like that that are too good to be true I usually stay away from now after years of learning the hard way. If it appears too good to be true, it is.
The more I thought about it the more I thought it was just a mistake by lines Makers and Ken Pom. I thought Wvu had a real good shot to win straight out.
It’s been an amazing game, hopefully Wvu holds on here and at least covers.
