College Basketball Open Discussion

Sheesh… escalating quickly

Wednesday! Enough teams at Mohegan Sun they can probably make it work. Especially b/c Florida pulled out of another event there.

Kind of a fun article by Quinn and some other writers. They each picked the program they would take over the next 5 years. Don’t know if they all used different criteria because the picks make little sense to me. As in I really don’t understand how Kansas/Duke/UK all went un-picked. Maybe they all agreed to exclude the blue bloods.

Here were the picks (made in order):
Gonzaga
Villanova
Virginia
UConn
Michigan (thanks BQ!)

Checked the comments and MSU fans are BIG MAD. One guys said any discerning basketball fan would know Juwan is nothing more than an AAU coach.
FWIW I would have taken MSU if I were Quinn but I’m enjoying the saltiness

I’m genuinely confused what that is supposed to mean. Is that a dig at Penny Hardaway? Does it mean he’ll just get good players and throw them out on the court with no strategy? I get that it’s an insult, I just don’t really know why.

Brendan Quinn actually took Villanova here (great pick imo), Dana O’neill is the one aboard the Juwan train! I actually wondered about the blue blood thing too but tbh UNC and Duke with the age of their coaches have quite a few questions over the next 5 years. Kansas has troubles with the FBI and so really Kentucky might be the only one I feel is truly being excluded. My two cents and this could be underestimating the power of blue bloods no matter the circumstances. Also MSU should be on this list too with Izzo and their current recruiting.

I think there’s some (not so) thinly veiled racism there as well

That makes sense cause I think Quinn would take MSU over Michigan.

UK would have to be in the top 3. Duke has concerns because K is old so I can at least see the argument. I don’t think Kansas is gonna get in any trouble

I can’t wait for those people to start dissecting how many charges Michigan takes or saying they don’t “play hard” or aren’t “disciplined.”

From MSU fans? Nahhhhhhhhhhh, man. That would never happen.

Although, to be honest I kinda would’ve expected The Athletic’s readership to be a bit more reasonable than the RCMB.

There are almost no reasonable Spartan fans ‘, regardless of the forum.

To be fair most fans of any school are unreasonable

Very true. That’s why I love this board. I’d say the majority of posters are pretty level headed. When you dive into Twitter, 247 and even mgoblog, it can get muddy pretty quick.

247 was my main place for years, but since subscribing here I rarely post on there. I still check it to get info from Sam, Dot, and Co, but I hardly find myself very interested in discussing with most of the people there :man_shrugging:

Zero UM mentions, I dont know how you have a best shooter list and dont include Isaiah Livers.

Probably just mad that Amaker didn’t get the job back after Beilein left.

Even in an industry full of self-important blowhards, Bilas stands out.

I watched Lebron James HS game against Oak Hill the other day. Jay Bilas agreed with everybody else that James would be the first pick in the draft, but he did offer up Darko Milicic as the possible number one pick. Ahhh Darko mania. Good times. My biggest memory of the early Darko days with the Pistons were Larry Brown saying over and over again when asked: “He’s not gonna play”

If Slim Chester signs with Michigan you better believe I will be on 247 sending smooch emojis to Dotman all day
