Yep – EMU will play all 2-3 zone under Rob Murphy.
Tired of these crybaby coaches, they had the choice of how to build their schedules. Its going be weird, random games are going be scheduled with super short turnarounds, games are going get canceled, but get on with the the season so that the most games possible can be completed.
Tweeted something similar… Michigan and Michigan State are two examples of schools who made some tough decisions but came up with safer schedules playing primarily regional teams without much insane travel;
Coaches make the basketball schedules. These are their choices.
Texas Tech also. Nimari Burnett was the first 5 star guard under Howard (fell to the mid 30’s, but still…) where it seemed like Michigan had a legit shot, but obviously it didn’t work out there. I’ll be watching to see if he’s an instant impact lead guard type like we were hoping for if he committed to Michigan.
All of them!
But Baylor-ASU seems like the #1 obvious one to watch, just based on rankings. UCLA-SDSU, Wichita State-Utah St, Clemson-Miss St. and Saint Mary’s-Memphis seem like the other standout matchups.
Nova-BC is at least two power conference teams but will probably be a blowout. And then Northern Iowa-WVU and Old Dominion-Maryland have upset potential.
I’m curious to see Illinois and Indiana, even if neither is playing anyone of consequence. Two teams with clear stars but lots of question marks about role players. Plus, if I’m being honest, I don’t really care much about teams outside the Big Ten.
I’m sure this is not news to anyone else but I hadn’t really paid much attention to scheduling so I was intrigued by Illinois and Nebraska having back-to-back games to start.
Hosting their own MTEs…
Figured that was the case. Curious if it will look at all different from any other home game.
I’m curious to see JC’s minutes. ASU is really deep at the guards.
I always love when teams that weren’t making the tournament anyway do this. Michigan should announce that they are self-imposing a ban on making the NBA playoffs.
ODU at Maryland. Kenpom thinks it’s a much bigger mismatch than Torvik does (101 at 51 vs 74 at 71). Seems like it could serve as a good barometer for Maryland.
- Huge Maryland win – maybe they find a lead guard and/or wing among their pile of guys who would otherwise make reasonable fourth options.
- Close Maryland win – that search might last into the season and cost them some games along the way.
- Close ODU win – Maryland’s roster deficiencies will probably keep them out of the tournament picture all season.
- Huge ODU win – abandon ship!
So much for that marquee matchup
Does this open the door for someone like Sharife Cooper or JT Thor transfer out of Auburn and apply for an NCAA waiver to be eligible somewhere this season? Most schools have moved up the end of the semester due to COVID. In theory, can opt not to play for Auburn this week and next week, finish out the academic semester, and transfer in good academic standing — enroll elsewhere next semester and ask the NCAA for a waiver for immediate eligibility due to NCAA sanctions at Auburn
Well that sucks. Great example of why these MTEs are so difficult. Different leagues have different rules.
Seems unlikely to me… also this:
Mess
TBD? the event starts when?
