I do have to say I thought people were getting ahead of their skis a bit on Cronin when saying stuff like “he’s been so much more successful then I thought he’d be at UCLA.” But he inherited what people act like Juwan inherited. He had 2 stud freshman that became 4 year players in Jacquez and Campbell. Those 2 players were at the core of every bit of success he’s had at UCLA, with Johnny Juzang being the main piece Cronin brought in (the kid also grew up 15 mins from UCLA).
He came in the same year as Juwan. The UCLA team that beat us in the Elite 8, 5 of top 6 players were inherited by Cronin. And still as of the end of last season the core of the team was Jacquez, Campbell, and Singleton. All brought in by Alford. Now those guys are gone and the program is in complete disarray cause he’s brought in maybe 2 good college players in his time at UCLA.

It’s really shocking and don’t think it gets as much attention as it should. Getting Jacquez for 4 years is not unlike Franz for 4 years, impact wise.
