Phil’s a cool guy, I don’t regret “getting to know him” over the past few years. Hope he enjoys his retirement, I’m sure he’ll pop up all over the place at games and on broadcasts.

i told this story early on in my posting tenure, but someone posted here that you could get phil martelli on cameo for like $25 so i ordered one for my friends’ birthdays, which are close together, and just asked him to wish them a happy birthday because i thought it’d be funny. phil recorded it at like 8 in the morning the day after an iowa loss that looked like it might knock them out of the tourney in 21-22, and spoke for like 2+ minutes about how much he loved being in ann arbor and how he felt the fans’ love every day. i know he likes to talk, but it was a classic case of someone doing more than they needed to, and i’ll always be a fan of his for that!

Do we think Kentucky has a real shot at Hurley? I’m seeing this morning that they’re gonna throw everything at him. I think Trilly mentioned that

Hurley would’ve gotten fired at Kentucky before he won his natties for being 1st round exits in two straight years
idk about this. counter what? there’s no way Arkansas is offering a raise. if he leaves it’s a haircut. his UK contract is guaranteed. I don’t understand the leverage.

There is zero leverage when Kentucky desires to see him go without having to pay a massive buyout. Not sure why Calipari thinks they’d try really hard to keep him.
it would be way, way, way funnier at this point if Cal ends up back at UK. they might have to play all their home games behind closed doors Queretaro style
