The person killed was a UNM student (not a player). Allegedly, he orchestrated the plan to lure the NMSU player (using a female friend as the lurer) out of revenge. Evidently, he was involved in a fight after the first UNM/NMSU game and was ganged up on by multiple NMSU players.
What a GD mess.

The fight and catfishing and shooting all happened months ago. Sounds like this recent development has to do with hazing.
