Interesting that Tucker (on the Kentucky beat) is speculating this. Have to figure Kentucky would be allllllllllll over this.

Yes WVU twitter

It sure would be a coincidence if John Calipari happened to be from the Pittsburgh area, wouldn’t it?

Do we think that’s good for us cause we could get one/just opens the market up a bit or is it bad cause B1G rivals might benefit?

Awhile ago I had a few too many drinks (in my own home unlike Huggins) and mapped out high level whiteboard-style season-by-season scripts for an HBO antihero-style tv show about a CBB coach that is a beloved celebrity everywhere he goes and revered in his community as the greatest person to ever live, but truly behind the scenes is basically the devil and his dirty deeds are endgame Walter White levels of evil.

In my head it was loosely based on John Calipari. Had a bunch of ideas that were hilarious in my head of how he progressively became a worse and worse person as he had more and more success, but “takes his good friend who is a head coach at a different school out for drinks, drinks fake drinks for hours while he feeds real drinks to his friend, then sets his friend up to get arrested for drunk driving so that he can take all his friend’s players and fill the many holes in his roster” would have been a GREAT season 3 finale*

*editor’s note: I know this didn’t actually happen. But life imitates art!

Kriisa to Illinois would probably be the biggest possible annoyance. I would assume Edwards will go hunt for a bag again. Mitchell too given his history? Feels harder to see those guys in the B1G if that’s the case. Mitchell going to like Arkansas because they missed on Nelson would make sense.

If you’re Duke, I think you throw the biggest bag possible at Edwards. He could be the missing piece. Or how about Bama?

I would pursue Wague in a second if he hit the portal

I know from this board that West Virginia is a bag-heavy team. And remember being annoyed that they were getting this player or that player. But I look at the RosterCast on Torvik and Krissa is the only player I’ve heard of.

Anyone UM should be looking at?

I had the same question. Really liked Kriisa but idk if he’s a fit and I don’t know that any of the others are either.

The best case was Michigan landing Reeves (and I guess Mulcahy too) and nobody else in the B1G snagging anybody late. Forbes spurns Indiana, no last-minute PGs for Illinois, etc. Michigan has this huge roster turnaround at the 11th hour while everyone else holds.

In my opinion Huggins dispersing the WVU roster is bad for Michigan. Nobody on that team is coming to Michigan, but several of them will come to the B1G.

Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio State, etc are all in that cluster tier that Michigan is trying to scratch and claw its way up. They all have question marks, they are all more proximate to WVU, and they all have natural landing spots for guys like Kriisa, Edwards, Mitchell, etc.

Maybe we call Toussaint or Battle but I doubt it goes anywhere.
