College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

Colorado’s spring game is sold out. Jeremy whatever, the skier/wide receiver of Olympic fame, was turned down when he asked to buy a suite for the year as everything is already sold out. With absolutely no connection except the pain of Cordell Stewart, I am admiring their colors and sweatshirts.

Is there a basketball player who could recreate the Coach Prime arc? I have two nominations.

AI to Norfolk State or other MEAC school and then his P5 job. Allen may actually need to work. Definitely has the media chops and the persona and the cultural gravity (I almost typed gravitas).

Dwayne Wade. Maybe? Jay-fricken-Z picked him over LeBron for the most mythical pickup game ever… but D seems too quiet, really.

Other ideas?

Once again the one and one rule isn’t changing probably because it makes no sense for either side to change. Tbh, I feel like all the talk about it changing is a virtue signal by Silver so everyone continues to talk about what a nice guy he is.

Announcement coming at 8:24 sprinkled in with the Bobby Hurley ASU vibes

Barkley is a really good one.

Thought about Jordan and Magic and I’m not sure I believe they could actually do it due to weird personality traits (Jordan is a jerk, Magic is too old?). Also they are Top 10 All Time Players, which is probably a different level than Deion, but I didn’t specify.

I am on the fence w/ Shaq. I tend to think he’s a flake and he’s definitely a clown, which seems an obstacle to coaching. But he’s gotta shot.

Deion was a great, great player. He made wearing #2 (his number at FSU) trendy for cornerbacks.

I agree that Jordan doesn’t have the same personality but IF he were to go into college coaching, there’d be a buzz just because he’s a legend.

Barkley seems like the best equivalent though. I could see him telling his players how it is.

In my mind, I only see Deion in #21 in silver and blue. He should KILL IT in Metroplex recruiting. All the moms and dads will revere him.

Deion is a special case. Don’t think there’s really an NBA equivalent.

Kobe probably. And you could see him being a super intense coach.

Yeah I guess Kobe would be the closest, but in a different way since he’s an entirely different personality from Deion. Also the thought of Kobe coaching college basketball is laugh out loud funny

Looking back, it seems kinda foolish if we thought we were getting 4 years outta Frankie.

So he’s hoping to play for his seventh team in seven years?

Frankie being Frankie. He has more irrational confidence than just about anyone.

Some G League team will be lucky to have him
