Surprised Mike Davis wouldn’t just pay the bill at that amount to etch his son’s name in the record books

Dickie V probably has that in his couch cushions.

Lol, about that…

Do postseason points (and stats in general) actually count towards these kinds of records?

I don’t know anything about the process either, though it looks like it may often be the highest-finishing team(s) in certain leagues (minus those bound for the NCAAT or NIT) who are willing to pay up to participate.

I assume some diversity is wanted, i.e., not all teams from the same conference. As far as the Horizon League is concerned, Detroit is much worse than the two teams that were invited. Milwaukee and Cleveland State finished tied for 2nd in league standings at 14-6, one game behind league winners Youngstown State. Detroit tied for 8th at 9-11 in an 11-team conference.

Also, none of the invited teams have an overall losing record, which Detroit does at 14-19.

I’m surprised the Titans are not in the field, given the implied invite on Twitter.

The Mountain West gets four bids for consecutive years.

The college basketball food chain is interesting to observe. So the NCAA announces its bracket from 6-7 pm, the NIT does so around 10 … and the CBI at 2 in the morning. And next year, the PS8 gets fourth pick … their committee will be up in the middle of the night :joy:.

We’re all rooting for them to get their first NCAA tournament win since 2018. They’re 0-8 since then. Six of those were 6-8 seeds. One was an 11 in Dayton and one was non-Dayton 11. We just had to get Nevada in there though!

I’ve been told that UDM was trying to play the CBI and some other new tournament that went under against each other for better rates. The lack of commitment there resulted in their exclusion.

Edit: PS8 I guess and yeah it got delayed. Didn’t fully go under

If true, that’s some serious hubris.

Report: Ole Miss expected to hire Chris Beard

Beard is gonna get a lot of transfers in there this year so don’t expect to pull many kids from the south

I almost respect the Ole Miss athletic department for being so transparent the past decade in the “no F’s given” approach to everything. Huge Freeze, Joey Freshwater, Beard, allowing Treadwell to insta rolled up wad of $100’s on his official visit and buying class after class before it was “legal”.

Down in the muck and don’t care.

This is a whole new level. Immediately hiring a wife beater is beyond disgusting. I hope their entire AD never wins any game in any sport ever again

And all we got out of dipping into their transfer files was golf enthusiast Shae Patterson.

I choose not to respect it.

I understand what you’re trying to say. I just don’t like calling someone a wife beater when charges were dropped and before she says she wasn’t strangled. Absolutely it looks terrible. This isn’t a case of guilty or not guilty they admitted they weren’t going to be able to prove assault charges. There are many layers to this but just saying wife beater is going too far.
