wow this means we are in the Izzo Endgame. HC practice for Stephens before the big call-up.

Izzo press conference next January: “Well I had to have _________ in there in the assistant slot and the players were used to Stephens, plus their PG shot 37.3% from three today even though he normally shoots 33%.”

I’m curious who the Stephens backfill will be on the MSU bench

What do we read into Saddi turning it down but Stephens jumping on it? Quite interesting…

Sparty fans seem to say Stephens was in charge of rotations

fife come backing? lol

I do think that’s accurate. I remember quite a few times seeing Stephens pointing along the bench and people shuffling in and out. Izzo only seemed to be concerned about yelling at the refs.

If that’s the case anybody looking to get in 18-25 MPG should start looking at WMU!

if izzo hires crean or yet another former assistant, i will firmly believe hes officially in a late career decline like dantonio/carr were

Crean has the popularity

with whom exactly is Tom Crean popular?

Those RCMB owners cycle in and out so unceremoniously and so frequently while barely making any impact. I’m happy to see one of them finally embrace what it means to a RCMB poster / MSU fan and actually be notable.

ok LOL at the recruiting optimism, but I don’t know why that’d be a bad hire as an assistant. He’s not an Xs/Os dinosaur. He’s just an unpleasant personality, and, frankly, if you’ve chosen to be a part of MSU’s basketball team you’ve already proven yourself unfazed by people like that.

But where I think the late stage Dantonio/Carr comparisons make sense is that you are just continuing to surround yourselves with “Yes men” rather than bringing in fresh concepts and ideas.

I know MSU is big on “family” but I think they could use a reboot of some new eyes and ideas. Crean and/or Fife would not represent that.
