Never had any issues with Thad. Might muck up recruiting a bit in that belt for OSU, IU and Illinois which is not a bad thing.
When did Shaka get fired?
Shaka didnât get fired, but he almost certainly was going to get fired and left before Texas pulled the trigger
What portion was that? I donât remember hearing much of that but I mostly stuck to here
Thad Matta coming back is wild. I always assumed taking a sports staff job at IU meant he was done
So are Mattaâs health issues resolved?
I didnât post here during the coaching search.
Yup. He was coming off his 6th season without a tournament win at Texas. Pathetic and overrated.
Idk, I like oats. I was impressed with his ability to recruit and I like their style of play. Heâs a smart guy imo and will adjust if they continue to flame out but they were very good at times this year. They just fell apart late in the year.
There were times they looked very good.
That is pretty sweet. I feel bad for Jordan but I didnât hate Matta at Ohio st which kind of sucked since they were often so good.
Jordan was a valuable coach here for awhile, so Iâd go easy on âpathetic and shamefulâ, but I think itâs fair to remember that Jordan got the job after two pretty awful seasons at Milwaukee, so his main resume argument for that job was that he was an alumni.
Milwaukee, admittedly, is one of the absolute worst jobs in basketball.
We can like a guy and realize what he meant here as an assistant without having to sugar coat how bad he has been as a HC. Especially with the level of scrutiny Juwan gets despite such a successful start here.
I think a lot of people just didnât know.
âŚ.Imo out if all the options being kicked around ,Juwan was the best option. Iâd rather walk into the unknown with him then Cooley or Shaka.
If Oats would have been available I might have leaned that wayâŚI think everyoneâs really happy though.
Itâs just tough cause all anyone had to go off of was his assistant work in the NBA , I get the trepidation there.
I donât know what the argument was for Shaka, but for Jordan, it was the idea that he would bring continuity with Beileinâs system and minimize transition costs. It was a reasonable argument imo. But Juwan was too good of an option to pass up.
I was #TeamJuwan during the coaching search, but credit to Cooley who has now succeeded Juwan as National Coach of the Year.
Wasnât Butler good in the year the tournament got cancelled?
Would have been a 5 or 6 seed
