Drew seems like the obvious guy here, IMO.
Depth is overrated in college hoops but especially in the NCAA Tournament.
I didn’t realize Holloway was Seton Hall alum. Amazing. This could be the best coaching transition ever — hard to argue he is not the right guy and this is certainly the right time. Can even bring some of his guys w him, I suppose. Wow!
Is that why MSU has struggled in the tournament as of late, too much depth? Or, would you describe their situation as a lack of quality starters?
Quality starters for sure. But having lots of so called “depth” is often a byproduct of a lack of quality starters.
Depth is neither over or under rated. But you need some.
it’s funny bc everybody knows this in the NBA. come crunch time and the playoffs, you grind it out w your best players. nothing wrong w playing matchups but most of the time you have 5 dudes who are clearly your best dudes and futzing with that is just making your team worse.
Lavall just could never quite get it going. Like many programs, really hurt by the loss of the 2020 season
Bummer but not unexpected
Would we hire Lavall and would he be willing to come should Saddi leave this year?
A Butler fan on Reddit mentioned that Jeff Boals is expected to be in the conversation. Seems that Saddi may be staying anyways, and I think he can aim higher than the MAC, but I feel like he would at least get mention there if Boals left.
…What the **** is Goodman talking about here? His first sentence explains the enormous value Butler got by waiting this long. And then for some reason pretends he didn’t say the first sentence in the rest of the tweet, lol. Now Butler can spend that money on a new coach instead of paying Lavall for being bad at his job.
I love Lavall, but c’mon. Completely reasonable from Butler. Should have structured his buyout differently if he wanted to be fired quicker.
Goodman is the worst.
he’s a buster
Is this the thread for the games tonight?
If so, let me just say, I love Jim Nance but as one who has done a fair amount of public address announcing, I don’t think the TV guy should be announcing the starting lineups. I mean, my gosh, give the poor PA announcer who’s probably only making a hundred bucks or so an opportunity to do what he does! I know, TV rules.
Edit: Turns out it’s not the thread. Oh well, I don’t know how to move it over there, but it’s OK.
Thanks to MTung for “liking” my comment!
It’s hilarious that a loud portion of our fanbase wanted Shaka Smart or Lavall Jordan over Juwan Howard in 2019. They’ve both been fired since then end Juwan has won 5 tournament games in that span.
