“Hey Alex - we’re going to have practice over here in the cargo hold of this Fedex plane…yeah, just take a seat next to those packages labeled Antarctica - the rest of the team will be around in a minute.”
Goals for the season:
- Michigan wins Big Ten
- Michigan makes Final Four
- Michigan wins tournament
- enough Emoni-pout GIFs to last a month without reuse
What a hot steaming pile of a quote. #forsubmissivesonly

3 out of 4 guys picked Michigan Final Four and 3 out of 4 picked Juwan to win COY.
Because that might offend Emoni.
Delicate tight rope that Penny is ostensibly walking (or maybe fell off already).
Yeah not so sure Penny is the one who can balance what he has on his plate. Obviously Cal and K can, but I won’t be surprised if this blows up on Penny. But I think that’s part of the reason we are all so excited to see this season play out. Will probably see them play some pretty impressive ball, but might also see some crazy blowups.
Unpopular Opinion: I’m actually rooting for Penny, Emoni, and Memphis. Also think they could struggle early, but have potential to be top 10 team at the end of the year
I am pure Sickos on Memphis. I want a total freak show
I dont know that them being a top 10 team by the end of the year is that unpopular, given the talent they have. I think many would consider them to be one of the better teams in basketball this year.
That being said, I think most are rooting for it to blow up for the pure drama of it. It is really, truly, what college basketball needs this year.
I am more interested in seeing how Timberlake and Lawson contribute. Both are experienced guys from power 5 conferences. Memphis is returning 3 guys who shot over 38% behind the arc. Their past issues often came down to shot selection and inability to hit shots behind the arc. A lot of people are talking about Bates and Duren for obvious reasons but they have some very good talent beyond those 2.
I don’t know. Call me John Beilein or whatever, but I think college basketball needs more teams that are actual programs that recruit cleanly, through which players come for 1 to 4 years to learn and grow, and then see the floor when they are ready. As much as I feel thankful to Larry Brown, and Sheed is one of the few famous people I’d like to have a beer with, I’m rooting for this to be an absolute shameful disaster.
Not sure that’s the direction we are headed with the transfer portal. (And that’s okay. There’s nothing inherently wrong with going to a better situation and success isn’t more deserved by sitting through a subpar situation for a few years first.)
13 steps?
Dylan, that’s a good point. At long last, Jalen Coleman-Lands is finally going to get a crack at it. Progress has been made.
(Seriously, apart from that kind of situation you are def correct about an issue of fairness to the players)
I’ve never reffed a game, but I’ve been told by many that it’s a very difficult thing to get right.
I don’t understand how you could be someone who plays basketball every day of your life and do this on a court, lol.
Or watched a game and not called that travel. Seriously…felt like a video game where you went in and turned off penalties.
With the season starting tomorrow I’m very curious to see who all of our pre-season way too early national championship picks are. (Obviously we are all rooting for Michigan)
- Gonzaga
- UCLA
- Texas
- Kansas
- Michigan
- Baylor
- Duke
- Purdue
- Illinois
- Memphis
