I wouldn’t think that much? I assume the 250-300k he could have got to go to another school is made up for his dad having a solid job. Has Baldwin’s draft stock slipped or something? I know he was hurt.

He’s fallen a little bit so far, and I’m guessing that’ll probably continue. He’s been pretty bad so far

He’s shooting 40% from 3 and averaging 20 per game in the four games he played the whole game. Is that “pretty bad”?

43% from 2 with a schedule almost entirely of low-majors feels pretty bad to me

I mean, he’s a top prospect because he’s a shooter with size right? What percentage do you expect a guy who takes a ton of pull-up twos to shoot from two when he’s by far the best player on his team?

Shot chart looks about like what I’d expect:

I just can’t see this year really having a huge impact on his stock either way. He’s going to be in a role that he probably won’t really play at the next level but also against bad comp. Feels like kind of a wash but maybe a chance to develop different parts of his game than if he went to Duke and was in a simple role.

Woody Newton and Robert Braswell transferred out as well.

Cool take on “top 10 plays” here by Ben Taylor for basketball junkies

Buffalo with a nice 10-point win at Western Kentucky.

Seton Hall knocks off Texas at home. Really wish we had knocked them off

At least it’s looking like a respectable loss.

OTOH, we underestimated how challenging our start to the season was going to be. Makes me feel a lot better about this team. Seton Hall beats Texas, Tarleton State keeping it close vs Gorgonzola, Arizona looking like a legit top 5-10 team, UNC being…UNC I guess i unno.

lol please tell me this was autocorrect

The SH loss sucks since it was at home and the other two suck because they were blowouts. If we beat SH and/or those other games were close we’d feel better I guess.

I’m a LITTLE worried at all of the “Michigan is fixed” and “look at our 3pt shooting now” or “Hunter’s back” pieces after a solid home game and playing the turnstile defense of Nebraska. But you can’t ask much more.

The SH loss for me (regardless of location) stings the most as I thought we were the better team that day, and usually the result reflects that.

You’re second point is my biggest fear as well. I’m not convinced our shooting is fixed.

Hunter is actually the wildcard for me, because I think BJJ, TW, Caleb and Eli are exactly the % shooters they’ve always been (just up and down this year, but will find level). If Hunter could get to 1.5 3PM at a 35-40% clip from here on out, I think that would do wonders for our offense. I am starting to believe it’s possible.

I am in the same boat. I really liked what I saw out of the last 2 games. However, Nebraska is downright awful and their effort was terrible. I dont know that SDSU is all that great either, so beating up on what could be 1 awful team and 1 ok team isnt moving the needle enough for me to say that things are fixed.

Steve Kerr to lead USA Basketball Olympic teams, with Mark Few as one of three “permanent” (and only NCAA) assistant coaches. Wow. Quite an anointment. Hard to believe all this stuff happening to a little catholic school in eastern washington. (Maybe time zone compatibility plays a small factor.)

Wait, I never said anything about us improving or turning the corner. People are still caught up with the #5 ranking and not adjusting to the new reality in which Michigan is most definitely not…that and will probably not ever get there. I had begun worrying about us not making the tournament because we looked so downright dire against a seemingly and relatively unchallenging schedule.

Now it appears that our beginning slate of games can compare favorably to some of the toughest schedules out there. I’m just happy that we’re at a point where we can look at this squad and see a tournament team.

I wasn’t trying to imply that you said that. Go to any website covering the team (including this one) and you will find posts about turning the corner in the last two games. The good news is that we did exactly what we should have done if we are the team we want to be. I just am not sure yet if it is sustainable.

I believe that Houstan is turning the corner and I do think Hunter is going to shoot well (take three per game and make 1-2). The rest of the team is a total unknown still outside of Eli.
