Mark Snyder @Mark__Snyder
LeVert at 29 (in Ford’s latest draft). “If he’s healthy enough to workout for teams, he should be able to move his stock back up.”
I personally think he is coming back. I don’t think he is a sure first round pick because of the injury.
I personally thinks he is gone it does not take this long to know if you are going to stay.
I don’t follow that logic.

The trouble is, he has to decide before he even knows if he will be well enough to work out effectively. He hasn’t played in some time.

Yeah I mean there’s way too much variance in: (1) 1st round vs 2nd round (being projected anywhere between 25 and 35), and (2) what will be his state during the combine. Based on this high variance, I can’t see him taking such a big risk (given he has clearly expressed leaving only if he had a 1st round guarantee, and it would make no sense otherwise).
Whatever evaluation he received at first I think he had enough info that he would go but still needed to know who else was leaving and how long it would take for his foot to heal. If he heard enough and wasn’t satisfied why not announce then he was coming back? Now he has the #'s as far as underclassman declaring he needs and now he puts in another evaluation why do that if you leaning toward staying? I think he wants to leave but the decision is based on his foot time table in order to do individual workouts. I could be wrong but we will see.

Hey, @webbdog, just curious, what do you disagree with? What I wrote is echoed by insider types who have talked directly to Caris.

It’s like the guy wants Levert to leave UM. I mean, anybody that even suggests CARIS himself is considering coming back (which is obvious at this point) gets the disagreement treatment without any explanation. I’ve just learned to laugh it off.
LeVert will announce decision tomorrow, according to a rep from a student organization in which Caris has been accepted into for next year.
The student also said LeVert’s status as a member of the organization will have no bearing on his decision.
Good, lets get this show on the road to see how this roster will shake out for next year!
I hope I’m wrong but we will see.
The guy I know around the program told me yesterday Caris was coming back.
These things usually don’t go the way fans may want but for some reason I feel kinda optimistic he will return. Hope I’m right.
I do want him to leave. I’ve stated that quite a few times. I don’t think he should return, Too much of a risk. I don’t feel there are 30 players in college better than Caris.

No offense, but it really doesn’t matter what you, I, or anybody else on this board thinks…it’s all about the evaluation committee. If they feel he’s in the 25-35 range, Caris should come back.
If Caris decides to leave he will fall further in the second round than GR did. Despite what some think on here he isn’t ready for the NBA. His strength is a major issue as his defensive ability(Belein overates this part of his game) put that with his foot injury that has kept him away from a basketball and he is a fool to leave.

I think his length in college goes a long way on defense. In the NBA, not so much.
And like you mentioned, strength is a major question mark. The NBA game is so much faster and longer…takes a toll on the body if you’re the weaker player.
“Asked Monday to evaluate LeVert’s NBA stock, NBA Eastern Conference scout speaking on the condition of anonymity told MLive that his franchise has LeVert slotted at 20-25 on its draft board.”
If that’s the case, it might be good enough for Caris… But
“A representative from a Western Conference team, meanwhile, told MLive his team has LeVert valued as an early second-round pick.”
So I don’t know if he is feeling positive or negative. I mean, he will always get mixed reviews due to his current state.
You might be right jivan but he had to learn something from GR last year? Right??
FWIW there have been rumors on Laker related boards that Mitch/Buss believe Caris will be available at #28 - #34. The Lakers late first rd pick (via Houston) is #28, and their early second round pick is #34…this would fall in line with Jivan’s report above. Lakers fans for the most part would be satisfied with taking Caris with either of those picks.
