BTN All-Decade Team

Yeah, it looks pretty solid until you get to the third team and then it’s a mess.

I’m not a Happ fan, but if you’re voting on accolades and stats, 2nd team makes sense and 3rd team would be bare minimum. Consensus 2nd team AA, 3x 1st Team B1G (which I presume he is the only person in this decade to be able to claim that).

Why oh why is Caris Levert not on this list…

He really only had one full healthy season… And he was the No. 2

ok, 3rd team then, over Murphy.

That’s definitely compelling.

I think I agree that the first and second teams are fine and the third sucks.

This Happ subthread is reminding me of how much I hate Greg Gard. Last year Happ was finally gone and I would be free to dunk on Gard all winter long as Wisconsin farted its way to a 12-20 record. They got blown out by New Mexico, Kobe King transferred midseason, and I was feeling really pleased with myself. Stupid Greg Gard had to turn it all around. I hate you Greg

I was dunking on Gard like crazy in December

I’d put Stauskas second team. He was CPOY, and his team advanced further in the NCAA tournament than any of the other second teamers. I’d also have Moe on the third team.

There’s no rational argument for Moe Wagner on the All-Decade team. He wasn’t even a 1st Team All-Big Ten guy.

Nate Mason was robbed

Ha. Nate Mason may have a better argument than Jordan Murphy. He at least made First Team All B1G.

I said at the beginning that if Mo doesn’t belong, Zeller doesn’t belong. I now believe less in that statement, but the idiot writers agreed with the me of two days ago…

Say what you will about Gard, and hopefully we’ll be able to say lots about crappy recruiting knocking that program down a peg for a while, but he can clearly coach.

No one rated as a five star out of High School!

I guess it depends on the criteria applied.

I think a team’s postseason success should absolutely matter. The 2018 team won the Big Ten tournament and made the title game. Mo was the star of the team. And in the final two games, he was the driving force behind wins over MSU and Purdue. By the end of that year, Michigan was the best team in the conference and Mo was its best player.

Second, the fact Tony Carr and James Palmer made the first team in 2018, while Mo only made the second team, is ridiculous. Mo is a better player than either of those guys, and in terms of team success, it’s not close.

So, if you’re basing your opinion on the absurd results of the all conference voting, then you’re validating that terrible vote a second time.

Yes but I want him to coach more badly

So the argument for Moe is that Michigan made the Final Four? His career avgs were 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. His best year he avg’d 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. He was never an All-American, POY, etc.

We’re talking about an individual list where multiple POY winners were excluded. I just Moe is way off from the list.

He’d be more likely to be on an All-NCAA Tournament team of the last decade.

Using his career averages is misleading because he only played three years and sparingly as a freshman. He averaged 14.6 as a junior - I’d project maybe 17 a game if he had stayed one more year. Go look at Denzel Valentine’s career numbers - 11.7 a game and he played *four *years. I believe Draymond and and Kaminsky are similar - peaked as seniors with their career averages after three years being very similar to Moe’s. Same with KBD.

Again, best player on the best team in the conference that also made the title game.
