Big Ten Open Thread: Week of 1/13

If Payne doesn’t play then we have a prime opportunity to separate ourselves.

If Payne doesn't play then we have a prime opportunity to separate ourselves.

Once again, I don’t think we get the W at Breslin but I also don’t think we’re in jeopardy of losing by 20+. MSU has taken a small step back on defense/rebounding as well. I have no doubt Payne plays, I actually think the sole reason Izzo is resting him now is in preparation for Michigan. The true question becomes, how effective can he be?

The only game I really see getting ugly will be played in Iowa City. Great talent and bad matchup is cause for concern.

If Payne is ineffective then we will win.

JBlair - Where's my cookie? Like I said, we had a reasonable chance of beating UW on the road in relation to the other top tier big ten teams

You were right. What address can I send a bag of my special chocolate chips?

Also so you know, I’ve turned to the dark side. I’ll now be agreeing & disagreeing in step with you. I think the saying goes - “if you can’t stand 'em, join 'em.”

So you and me bro. Bring on the sucky defense, needing more bigs, and uncertain about DJ Wilson posts. Let’s do this!

…this Wiscy win gives us some breathing room. Hoping we don’t need that cushion but it is really nice not to have that pressure right now. We had an ugly lapse last year and I couldn’t stand how we played so soft during that stretch.

Our sarcasm for one another is so much more enjoyable after a W!

What’s the call for Wednesday against Iowa? Horford/Morgan seemed to played very well tonight. Think we can off-set their size advantage and hold a home win to go 6-0?

I’d be lying to say im confident in a victory, Iowa is loaded with talent on the wings and bigs. Home court definitely means something though, and if we can take UA to the wire, we can certainly competed with Iowa. We have to exploit the PG matchup, that is where Iowa has issues. If you put a gun to my head I’d say Michigan by 3. GR3 has been really substandard on the glass recently, and if e has those issues against White, we will pay dearly. In my opinion that is the key to the game

I’d probably agree there - along with foul trouble.
I think Iowa has better overall depth on their bench.

how did iowa get so good compared to where they were at last year? i remember us completely destroying them on their home court. nit to possible final four contender is a pretty big jump.

@pendingperil Michigan only played Iowa at home last year.

@umhoops ah, i guess i misremembered then. it was still a blowout of a game.

OSU goes down to Nebraska…wow

@Nebraska is another possible slip up for OSU coming up next. Can you imagine 0-4, I'd jump for joy!

Didn’t guess us beating Wisconsin but I’ll take the foresight of the two OSU losses

This OSU team doesn’t travel well and their offense could use those two five stars they got this year

It’s a thing of beauty in my opinion…nothing better than OSU suffering.

The rails are coming off in Columbus, and I couldn’t be happier.

Della Valle posted this after Michigan lost to Charlotte. Couldn’t be happier that they are completely falling apart.

He is just angry that we took LeVert over him LOL

I’m adjusting previous statements. I don’t see Wisconsin or OSU losing more than 8-10 games

Wisconsin losing 8-10 games? With that schedule?
