Those Carsen Edwards FGA have to be pretty enticing.
lol, the rest of Purdueās roster is probably bummed that they wonāt get any shots again.
The question for Purdue is, which guy will become automatic coming off off-ball screens for 3? Iām sure it will be someone, but I donāt know who. Heck it could be Nojel Eastern and Iād barely be surprised
Even though Proctor takes quite a few shots, I canāt see him replicating Edwardsā near 20 FGA per game. Proctor was still at less than 15 FGA per game when he was a big fish in a small pond. Idk when weāll see another player like Edwards in the B1G again.
My bet is Stefanovic, who shot 41% as a freshman.
Yeah, I was being snarky and agree with your assessment of a more balanced attack from the Boilers moving forward.
Rasir Bolton of Penn State is in the transfer portal. Really interesting.
Any features written on Proctorās mom so we can meet the new Mother Chucker?
Thatās a blow to a PSU squad that figured to be pretty good next season with their only loss being Josh Reaves (thereās no way that Lamar Stevens can get any feedback from the UAC other than āGO BACK TO SCHOOLā).
48% from deep on 86 attempts. Low usage but very efficient (albeit at a lower level of D1 ball).
Carsen matched James Harden for usage, and If guess Cline was their second highest usage guy.
Oddly, I still think theyāll be pretty good even if I doubt their two most established returning players (Eastern and Haarms) can swallow that much of it.
I really liked Wheeler and Williams and think theyāre going to be good Big Ten players.
Eastern and Haarms actually had higher usage rates than Cline, though it was close. I think thatāll be a super interesting (not necessarily in a good way) two man game between them if they choose to go that route. Eastern badly wanted to be a PG out of high school, but year two being a 15.5 ARate / 18.1 TORate showing isnāt exactly instilling confidence.
Well, heās trending in the correct direction at least. Was 13.8/26.8 as a freshman!
Eastern didnāt submit his name for the draft this year?!?!?! (I thought he did last year)
HUGE year for Eastern. His play as point meant Carsen and Cline could play off ball and score at will because teams had to defend both off-ball. With both gone and getting replaced with Proctor and Hunter/Stefanovic, heās going to need to be a bigger piece of that team as a scorer.
Trevion Williams showed flashes early in the seasonādid he get injured, or just remain on the bench as the rotation tightened?
He was big all January, but he still played an important role late season also. Just donāt think he got the extended run that Haarms did. He and Wheeler were huge in that UVA game though. I expect both of them will be important.
My guess for them is probably Eastern, Proctor, Stefanovic, Wheeler, and Haarms as a starting five, and Hunter, Trevion, and Brandon Newman are the first rotational pieces off the bench. You COULD start Hunter over Sasha, but Purdue was at their best last season when stretching the floor so I think bringing Hunter off the bench for Eastern is the best move.
