Morris is a totally different player, as you acknowledge, but I agree with your point. I do think Winston will stick in the NBA for awhile. He’s an excellent passer and an excellent shooter.
It wasn’t a like for like comp I was just saying neither bases their game on leaping ability or explosiveness with the ball. Yet Morris is looking like he will carve out a great NBA career as of now.
No, I realize it wasn’t an apples to apples comparison. I think Morris has a couple inches on Cash, and he’s longer, so more adept at getting into the lane in the NBA. But Cash has a great outside shot. I think he’ll stick for awhile.
I can’t imagine any NBA fan who follows college basketball religiously that wouldn’t want Cassius Winston as their team’s backup PG.
Winston should have gone to Harvard if his goal is a degree.
- He would get a great job coming after graduating from Harvard
- We would not have to play him
#2 being the biggest reason easily
Don’t have to tell you but its the nature of the beast. I think Cassius could catch on although his defense could run him out of the league. Poole just has a much higher ceiling and I definitely could see the appeal of taking him over Cassius.
I actually think that Charles has the best shot to be an effective pro. His elite defense will keep him on a roster and get him more playing time than most of us would probably expect. Add in his finishing ability and his decent footwork down low and I think he will really be a nice second round pick for someone.
I’m torn on Iggy right now. Can’t get a read on how he’ll be as a pro but I’m rooting for him.
depends on the team, I can’t decide what Cassius’ career will look like. He is going to have to be an elite offensive player and fall onto the right bench unit. If he is playing with an elite defensive second unit and with a b/u shooting guard who can really defend along with a roster that has some nice shooters than he should be ok.
Everyone in the Nba can play its all about the right fit and the right opportunity. Sometimes guys get neither and fade into a lesser league or out of hoops all together or they finally get to the right team and it all clicks.
There are literally 32 backup PGs in the NBA who can’t defend (maybe a slight exaggeration). Defensively, PG is the least important position (at least, it’s the position where teams most favor offense over defense), and the defining trait of starting/backup PG’s is that the backup are only good on one side of the ball (and generally that side is offense).
It seems pretty silly to refute the idea that Winston can be a backup with the argument he has holes in his game - of course he does, if he didn’t, he’d be in the lottery.
VanVleet is arguably the premier backup in the league and he doesn’t defend a lick.
Saying I can’t decide what his NBA career will look like and Not thinking hes a lock to be an elite b/u isn’t the same thing as refuting the idea. Never said that. I think fit and the right team will have a lot to do with how well he does. I could see him being a very nice b/u or struggling and bouncing around.
Also Van Vleet is a good defender, thats off track though. Van Vleet is actually the man all around and I’m pretty shocked.
How would MSU be able to make this work with only one available scholarship?
Someone would transfer?
I don’t even see anyone on their team being a transfer candidate without being flat out told to take a hike by Izzo.
Yeah, I guess it is tough to say. If I’m MSU, I’d rather add Blackshear as a grad transfer than the two Hauser bros as standard transfers.
I guess the answer might be as easy as ‘the player/school isn’t interested in the other’ but: any thoughts on why Michigan wouldn’t pursue Blackshear. Seems like a great fit for Michigan at the 4.
Blackshear is the kind of guy who would probably be a five at Michigan. He’s a post-up heavy big man who weighs 250 pounds and attempted fewer threes than Jon Teske.
Al Durham and Justin Smith also testing the waters
Just looked at that list and also saw Devonte Green’s name…uh what? I guess he is a junior so if there’s any feedback he can receive to better himself for a last hurrah, go for it.
Daughter goes to High Point and is friendly with this young man. Shocked he did not go to West Virginia as most thought closer to home was a better fit.
