Big Ten Discussion

The best team they could put together would probably be Cline, Palmer, Watson, Morgan. Considering Charles’ eligibility is up in the air.

Give me Happ, Murphy, Cline and Charles (if allowed). Point Happ!!!

Banked 3-pointers should count, but only if you call it before you shoot it.

Haven’t seen it posted yet, figure it’d be better suited in here, but Isaiah Washington is transferring from Minnesota. Scored 26 last season against Michigan is his career game. Probably better known at this point for being one of the most well-known high school basketball players in this more recent ‘YouTube era’ of highlight reels.

Kid didn’t really know how to play basketball or run a team. A natural talent though. Hopefully he finds a spot and has a strong end to his college career.

You reckon he goes back to the NY area? St. John’s seems like an obvious possible landing spot, might be the ever-so-slight drop in competition that may help him out as well.

That is putting it gently.

No idea truth be told. I’m not into transfers or following those as much as the prep level. I wouldn’t be shocked if Mullins isn’t at St. John’s next year though either fwiw.

Super interesting thought. I think he has at least one more year left, the trip to the tournament bought him at least one more I think plus with so many underclassmen, I think they’ll see what he can do with ‘his guys’. The problem is though whether or not he can, a, win without Ponds, and b, recruit without Abdelmassih.

Shooter jumping into defender is my least favorite. Never shkuod be rewarded without taking an honest shot.

Not sure where to put this but this is roughly how I would have voted for the first team. Glad Winston made first team. He earned it from my POV.

Roby declared for the NBA Draft without an agent. Thought I’d mention it here. Nebraska could, realistically, lose their top six from last season.

I wonder if Thomas Allen will change his mind about transferring now that Hoiberg has been officially announced. Recall his transfer statement said he was waiting on who would be named the new coach which I found odd since nearly everything was pointing to the (Former) Mayor Of Ames.

Kansas (Darnell Valentine specifically) even more famously ran the same play successfully but with a different (no call) result.

http://kuhistory.com/articles/

“Kansas called timeout and drew up a play in the hope of drawing a foul that would send them to the line. Thus as the Jayhawks prepared to inbound the ball, Valentine set a pick on the baseline. Kansas reserve Booty Neal ran the baseline looking like he intended to get the ball in play while Wichita State’s Jay Jackson trailed him. The play worked to perfection as Jackson crashed through Valentine. However, much to the chagrin of the KU faithful, no foul was called. With the play broken and no one to whom he might inbound the ball, Neal called time out. When play resumed, the Jayhawks’ inbounds pass sailed innocuously over everyone’s head and out of bounds. KU fouled a Shockers player as Wichita State took the ball in to send him to the line. Although the player missed his free throw, Kansas could not get off a decent shot and time expired.”

Thought that was odd too. He’s a big piece to that team next season. It’s just a shame that their top two players look likely to be players that are both at the same spot of the court with Allen and Burke.

EDIT: I like Amir Harris too. I think he will be a good four-year piece.

Yep, I actually saw the play. The CMU one years ago, too! Thanks for posting. Another trip for the “old” guy down memory lane.

Had to look at their roster to realize that Burke was that kid from Robert Morris. Man, half of NEB’s roster were transfers. Hoiberg is going to feel right at home!

Also seen buzz that Nana Akenten and Thorir are possibilities in leaving with Thor to Europe and Akenten transferring. Hoiberg could definitely use a transfer hit or two.

No surprise.
