To be fair, in the full presser, he gave IU credit several times, and blamed himself for a couple of things. But, bottom line; there is nothing quite like an Izzo presser after a loss. The abbreviated “I don’t give a s&#@” was awesome.
Illinois beat Northwestern by five today. Despite this, and Illinois’ impressive Big Ten, they still have a worse overall record than their in-state rival.
I can’t believe Purdue is about to win the conference in a year where Carsen Edwards shot 35% from the floor and 31% from three in conference play
Every Big Ten team is also within the KenPom top 75. Gotta be top-to-bottom the best conference in the nation.
I haven’t noticed Z travelling but I am willing to explore my bias. I will take a closer look.
I will say this though. Winston is not borderline traveling. In some cases he is lifting the established pivot foot, stepping, and then lifting the second “established” pivot foot. It is like he is travelling twice.
Wow, did he really say that stuff? What a bozo!
Presumably this gets us ready to face teams in the NCAAs. Discuss.
Maybe i’m not looking at the standings correctly but if Purdue loses one of their next two and we beat MSU wouldn’t we win the Big Ten? Since we beat Purdue?
Co-champions, no tie breaker. We have been over this before.
Yeah both teams would get to raise a Big Ten Champs banner, but we would be the one seed in the BTT.
Champions knows from champions.
AH yes, my apologies. Should have remembered that. Thanks for clarifying guys.
Tom always accept the blame—in the “It’s on me”, but don’t actually state anything you did wrong, while giving specific examples of what individual players and the referees did wrong-- kinda way. Kinda like the non-apology apology.
Not really, but X does hook from time-to-time. But he hasn’t mastered Winston’s off-arm push off, which he uses only about 99% of the time.
I truly believe Winston averages 8 travels per game and his off arm commits about 20 offensive fouls per game.
I will admit Z and Matthews are guilty of hooking quite a bit…
The off arm swat and hammer has kind of become a part of the game. Everybody with good guard skills does it. Winston takes the off arm stuff to the next level with his stiff arm and push. I think he has a pretty strong upper body…Still a great player but he is given a lot of leeway…I am not sure why.
I noticed that years ago. He will point out all the things that players did wrong and then say “I have to do a better job of coaching them up.” That is not taking the blame, that is throwing them under the bus.
And he never makes any excuses for injuries, but he’s forced to play people who aren’t ready yet because of injuries and that hurts the teams performance.
(laughing) That is a good point. “Player X has to rebound better, and player Y has to play harder. But, that’s on me.”
All those injuries. Guess there is a over use problem.
