Big Ten Discussion

65 points should be enough for a Purdue win.

Takeaway the fastbreak and MSU will break. Really comes down to that.

Graham Couch is a cyborg parody of a human being. That’s my only explanation for his constant stupidity.

Yep, when you give up as many looks from three as MSU does, you’re bound to have a game where you get buried under an avalanche of deep makes.

I can’t believe this is a game again. It seems so easy to frustrate Winston until suddenly it’s not…

Purdue giving up too many and ones this half. Free points with clock not moving.

Purdue with 2 points in the last 7 minutes. Can’t do that against a more talented team and expect to win.

MSU going with the Hack-A-Eastern approach. By the percentages it’s a good play (50% foul shooter) but thus far he’s 6/6 on FTs off intentional fouls.

And it isn’t working.

Down 5 with 3 minutes left too. Interesting move. Felt like Purdue had barely scored from the floor for the last 10 minutes

And Purdue will weather the second half storm by MSU. Thank you, Boilers.

That almost went terribly wrong. Back in 1st place.

We own our destiny.

Aren’t they still a half game ahead?

Good catch. Tied for 1st in the loss column I suppose.

I have not been following this thread so I have no idea if anyone has posted what I’m about to say, but seriously? Carsen Edwards for POY in the B1G? Anyone who saw this game MUST put Cassius ahead of Carsen. Not even close, not today it sure wasn’t. Literally Cassius Winston put State and the game on his back. Obviously it wasn’t enough. How could it have been? No one is coming back from down 23 in the second half. Yet, Cassius almost made that happen. Kid is a GREAT player!

Having said that, what a teaching moment for the rest of the B1G. ANYTHING can happen. No lead is too big. You cannot afford to get the slightest bit lackadaisical, or play the slightest bit less intense, or begin to make mistakes, either with the ball or on defense, or the unthinkable might happen.

Almost feel like Purdue was better when Edwards wasn’t featured. A lot of MSU’s comeback was forcing him into contested jumpers or him playing heroball

Think the only other option for POY is Happ and I don’t think Wisconsin is going to be in the mix enough for him to be considered over Winston. Even if (when?) Michigan wins the B1G, I don’t think there will be enough of a standout on Michigan to warrant consideration.

I agree. I think Edwards plays too much hero ball too often. As a result he tends to force things at the wrong time, turning it over at critical times. Of course, he’s an outstanding player, a real talent, but he certainly doesn’t possess Cassius’ IQ as a player, and perhaps in life as well. Cassius really is quite a brilliant young man. As a Michigan fan, I really don’t want to like Cassius, by the way, but I can’t help it. He pretty special.

Losing at Purdue, which I think we can finally say is a good team, is no shame at all – but it’s not that surprising when MSU has been losing the possession battle and allowing lots of 3s game after game.

Izzo isn’t afraid to foul early. I kind of like the strategy, but it seemed like MSU was coming back without it, so I don’t know. Easy to say in hindsight.

Going to be a fun big ten race!
