I think I remember Izzo saying something along the lines of portal bigs are pretty hopeless and not likely to impact winning at BIG10 championship level.
I don’t have facts to back up his assertion, but it passes the smell test. Joey Brunkner and that guy at Iowa last year, Rabrenko or something, eh — they don’t change anything. But Castleton was a transfer. And didn’t Minn get a high major big. (Or is their guy a wing?)

The average portal big is probably less Big Ten playable than the average guard or wing. At least, there’s a level of competence you need to play a big. Other spots you can get away with specialists.
And any elite big has a LONG list in the portal.
