15K arena in State College is still nuts to me. I know they use it for other stuff, but feel like they might really benefit from something more like Villanova has if they ever got serious about bball.
I think PSU needs to do some more fundamental stuff than hire a good coach if they don’t want that good coach to repeat what just happened.

I highly doubt that was the reason. Think it was him opting to go to a school where he could win bigger, faster than at PSU.

I don’t think people realize how awful the PSU MBB job is. It is hands down the worst job in the conference. The gap from 13th (Northwestern?) to 14th is probably as large as the gap from, say, 9th to 13th. It is the least institutionally supported P6 job in the country. head coach salary is just one ingredient and even if PSU decided to match $6 million a year (which they never would in a million years) it wouldn’t change their arena, facilities, donors, budget, recruiting footprint, etc

So Penn State has five guys out of eligibility (Pickett, Wynter, Funk, Dread. Henn), one going pro (Lundy), and two in the transfer portal. Of their recruits, Shrewsberry’s kid is obviously going with dad and another one (a random 3*) is an Indiana kid. The other is top-100 Carey Booth, who is maybe solid since his dad played at Penn State. But it seems like the best case for this team is something like what LSU did this year.

Loss leader. I’m actually still waiting on my umhoops coffee cup, which Dylan insists I didn’t qualify for. But I like to think that the customer is always right.
