Too many schools opt for coaches with established reps, playing it safe on the front end and (quite possibly) further inflating salaries. I wish more took chances on promising youngbloods; I feel weād see more innovation in sports.

I like Shrewsberry, theyāve had a good season. I also get BigBoutros comment about bolting to a better job. With that being said, PSU has one of the oldest teams in the country lead by one of the best transfers in the country. Thatās a valuable way to win in this eraā¦but Iām not sure how easily it translates to building up a new program.
Iāve never been one of those who has been a Cooley detractor, at all, but, given the choice, and with my limited knowledge Iād take Shrewsberry. I think heās gonna be a star!

I agree that now is the perfect time for Shrews to leave. If I were a Penn State fan Iād hate it, but if Iām Shrewsberry I strike while the iron is hot!

That line of questioning is totally fair, and Shrewās response is ridiculously poor. Just say that you are focused like a laser on your guys and the next game. And if they ask the follow up, repeat your answer.
Disrespectful to his players and staff to do what he did, honestly.
This is the exact answer you get out of a 2nd year coach on his first job. There are so many other ways and better ways to answer it other than that.
