Teams often struggle in their first BTT game. That especially seems to be the case when it’s in Chicago. It seems to take a game to get acclimated to the arena. If we could have made it past yesterday, I think we really would have had a shot today.

Did you mean we would have made more than one shot today?

Here come the whistles. Pikiell is going to stroke out.

Probably.

As expected, Purdue is ripe for the picking. Should have been us taking advantage.

Purdue really does seem like 2013 Michigan to me. High expectations, fast start, struggle down the stretch. Michigan fell to Wisconsin in the first round of the BTT and dropped to a 4 seed (should have been a 3 seed but I digress). Everyone was picking VCU over UM in the 2nd round, but Michigan found another gear and made it an amazing season.

Not saying the teams are identical in efficiency or style of play, but there are some parallels there imo.

One of the things that makes the tourney so fun for me is you don’t have to play the teams that know you so well. It’s a chance to unleash your stuff on teams that don’t, and when you have a great gameday coach, which we have had, that can really work. Sometimes it looks like the players have a new lease on life too, so to speak, and that’s how '13 seemed to me.

Which makes me sad for this team. I wouldn’t have been surprised to make the S16 again.

Michigan beat Penn State in the BTT on Thursday before losing to Wisconsin on Friday

In fact, Beilein went a perfect 12-0 in the first round of the BTT. The man was phenomenal in any single-elimination tournament.

If Simpson plays like he did yesterday and today, I think Rutgers is going to be as good as they were before.

(I love, by the way, McConnell fouling out, and Painter coming over and laughing with him that it was a BS foul)

reading lips “Glad you’re gone, but I love you man.”

Shenanigans in the Rutgers Purdue game! Love a little spice

I want us to hire Mike Rhoades

Yes that was a very nice moment. Add it to the “Painter is a good guy” pile.

I really like Simpson also. A good foundational piece for them to build with. Not sure what Rutgers ceiling is but I don’t think they are going anywhere.
