Big Ten Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

I was in the basketball band when it happened. I took home a piece of it and had it for years after. You think some of us were hard on the five stars last year, you should have heard what the fans said about Willie Mitchell.

Zach Edey is absolutely insane. The more I watch him the more I realize how singular he is. What a dominant force

Just been holding him back all year, apparently! Last half of the year at his fifth school is apparently the time to let him loose!

I’m 40 and I’m not particularly excited about this season dredging up memories/waxing nostalgic about the Decade of Darkness.

I think Sueing’s next injury will be covered by Medicare.

I love that you are finally coming around on Purdue

Who thought we’d be wondering who would win the Zach Edey/Michael Henn mismatch

As a student (68-73) I would pay $3.00 to get in and sit anyplace I wanted. Fewer people than the women’s games.

I think it’s when I realized that it doesn’t matter that the rest of the guys are all just fine. He’s that good. Like imagine being a wing shooter on Purdue - it must be so freeing to know that it literally doesn’t matter if you make or miss the shot, Edey’s just gonna engulf it and get two anyway.

And they are all very unselfish and smart. Totally willing and happy to just keep throwing the ball in. Pretty impressive watching other teams like Illinois and Michigan do stupid selfish stuff and then flip on Purdue

The two things you said play against each other though.

Guys like Jett, Kobe or TSJ or whoever do things that are “selfish” because they are being asked to do more than they are really comfortable doing. Or more than they should be doing.

Audige or Buie take a ton of bad shots but again that’s their role.

Edey is good enough that basically everyone on Purdue is asked to do less not more.

Pickett has a similar impact on everyone on PSU’s roster.

Yeah the Purdue backcourt is pretty good for freshman. They look a heck of a lot better because of Edey.

Is PSU doubling with Gillis’s man? The box score suggests it’s not working…

whats the on/off splits for Edey? Don’t think I have seen that and am curious.

Jalen Pickett is the best player in the B1G

best guard for sure. Edey is the best player though.

That the guy who’s been in college since the Obama Administration?

Also, those guards and wings know that if they get beat on defense there is an enormous giant of a man waiting g by the rim to dissuade, block, or devour all shots. And even if someone does get up a shot, it likely will miss most of the time because of Edey, who will then swallow the rebound like a great white attacking a helpless seal.

I actually wonder if Edey were only 6-10 how good he would be…TJD? The extra half foot makes him incredible despite no dribbling or jump shot.
