Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

Matt Painter has been given like four straight questions begging him to say he can play Trevion and Edey together and he’s monologued for ten minutes about how difficult it will be for Trevion to guard fours.

Hmmmm, maybe he changed his mind due to practice results after he spoke with BQ

It’s friday and I’m avoiding work so its UMHoops B1G straw Poll time.

1 Michigan
2 Illinois
3 Purdue
4 Ohio State
5 MSU
6 Indiana
7 Maryland
8 Rutgers
9 Penn St
10 Wisconsin
11 Northwestern
12 Nebraska
13 Iowa
14 Minnesota

I have no idea what to do with that 2nd tier. I think MSU has the most upside there so I went with them. I was previously kinda high on Indiana amongst that group but now I’m not so sure. Maryland is losing all the identity they had last year. Meh. I don’t see any of them threatening to jump the top group. Penn State is my surprise team. Maybe they’ll just have no talent and will stink and make me feel dumb but I gotta make some unexpected picks. I buy Pickett, buy Shrewsberry, and am taking the senior laden team to overperform expecations.

I like your projection. The only difference on my list is Maryland ahead of MSU.

  1. Purdue
  2. Illinois
  3. Michigan
  4. MSU
  5. Maryland
  6. Ohio State
  7. Indiana
  8. Rutgers
  9. Iowa
  10. Nebraska
  11. Penn State
  12. Wisconsin
  13. Northwestern
  14. Minnesota

Would bet good money on Purdue to win the conference. Would also bet good money on Purdue to lose before Illinois/Michigan in the NCAA Tournament.

Wow you’re more optimistic about Michigan this year, eh? I’m surprised you have them ranked so high.

When Minnesota wins the conference this year you’ll be sorry

I hope Cursed Blue and Big B are still in reverse psychology mode as to the Maize & Blue.

Best post in a while. I enjoyed my initial glance trying to determine teams. Pretty successful I must say!

Illinois will be insufferable if they win the conference this year
