fwiw Davis Smith has withdrawn from the portal and returned to MSU, and he was on scholarship for 21-22.

Walk-on scholarships don’t impact the scholarship chart.

If he’s on scholarship he is, but he’ll only be given one if there’s an extra. There’s no year over year commitment.

Yeah SDSU is the school. I implied a reason when I first posted about him. Don’t know definitively though so don’t feel super comfortable outright saying it

First I’ve heard of key being referred to as a good offensive piece…if he is expected to be a top 2 player for Osu….not sure holtmann makes it through next season.

Just excluding the freshmen for sake of argument, OSU lines up:
PG: Isaac Likekele
SG: Sean McNeil
SF: Tanner Holden
PF: Justice Sueing
C: Zed Key
Man, yeah, I dk. I think if Key and Sueing are the absolute best version of themselves, then they’re a for sure tourney team without the freshmen? And if each of those freshmen has a ~10% chance of being B1G average or better, that’s still not even a coin flip to get for sure 1 that’s that good.
But, they’re still probably deep enough w enough legit high major players that they’re a bubble team. Holtmann probably pushes them in given his track record.

Every offseason we wonder if OSU’s gonna fall back, and every year Holtmann manages to get them to overachieve until the late-season fade.

yeah this time last year they were projected in the 90s. lots of giggles when Duane left. then they were fine
EJ did blossom into an All-American, though. They also don’t have Kyle Young, who is somehow the most important player Holtmann had.
I guess no one projected Branham to be borderline lottery good, but feels like OSU needs another version of him from one of their freshmen

One thing I realized today listening to the pod… I have no interest in the roster churn at other Big schools at this point. I can barely keep up w Michigan. I am not going to put headspace into MSU or Wisconsin’s possible outcomes. I’ll check back in after nba dropout dates.

It is impossible to keep up with. We can catch up on that later when the dust settles. I keep tabs on MSU because there’s content here about that, they are our rival, I know all their players, and it hasn’t been that much churn overall. Otherwise, I can’t tell you who is on any team.
