Also makes HD’s tweet look even worse if TSJ is recruiting guys to Illinois
I disagree. Hunter can be right that TSJ preferred Michigan and got screwed in coming here so he chose his second pick, Illinois. Not like TSJ is going be moping around at Illinois and not making friends there or trying to get friends to come play with him. Also, recruiting another player away from TTU sounds like what somebody would do if they were mad at TTU.
I doubt he would do that if there wasn’t truth to it.
That’s generous IMO. Hunter pops off all the time
Bill Self appeared on a podcast the other day, and had this to say about his decision to take the Illinois job after Tulsa, having received interest elsewhere:
“I actually thought Illinois was one of the best three to four jobs in the Big Ten. When you just talk about, you know, Michigan obviously, Ohio State, and I thought next was probably [Illinois]. Now Izzo was at Michigan State and I actually thought, at the time going into it I thought, ‘Well that’s one of the best jobs because Tom Izzo’s so good.’ I didn’t know if that was a better job than Michigan so in my mind I’m thinking Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio State were the four jobs.”
I would say Indiana is easily the most ‘prestigious’ job in the B1G, I dunno about ‘best’.
Hard to say where Michigan falls on that list.
Christie not in the portal. I know that had been a hot topic.
If I were an MSU fan I would probably be talking myself into that being good news…but given the way he entered the draft and the surrounding noise about his unhappiness it may not be a good thing for them. Compare that with how our guys did so quietly or making a clear point about maintaining eligibility.
Going to be a wild ride for them this month too.
After all that scuttlebutt about him being upset with MSU and gone no matter what, he’s going to go back to MSU after receiving a 2nd round grade isn’t he?
Schools don’t have to report their portal entries until Wednesday though
I’m happy to be wrong but I’ve been saying it all along that Christie isn’t leaving MSU this year. Unless he gets a draft promise where he’s comfortable, Izzo has him in a deathgrip.
“It’s been a long three years”
All the rumblings I’ve heard is that it’s expected he will get a late first round grade. I have no idea how that’s the case, but if he gets that he’s leaving
Sold pick up for OSU. Not a great offensive player but should help them defensively.
he has a nice friendly smile
Good player.
His offensive numbers are rough but OSU could definitely use a high level defender.
