Yikes. This is the definition of a warm body. Great offensive rating in 2021 though on (checks notes) 11.4% usage rate.
Also good for Duke I guess for just always being able to bring in a perfectly good big man to ride the bench behind whatever 5 star guy they start (Patrick Tape, Theo John, now Ryan Young?)
not a great athlete but he has good basic instinct
I missed this yesterday. Quite the miss by the recruiting industry evaluations. Never reclassify if you’re a PG
I hear far more stories about players reclassifying back a year, not forward. I see very little value in it for basketball. In football it makes some sense because you know you’re unlikely to play as a freshman and you’re stuck in school for 3 years anyway so you might as well start the clock and get into the program ASAP. In basketball it doesn’t seem to make much sense to me.
This is kind of random, but was just wondering
Who would you most like to beat in the national championship game? (assume this is next season)
- Michigan State
- Illinois
- Wisconsin

Trick question, Illinois is already out in the round of 32
i’m not convinced illinois will be a serious rival for all that long. they’re really annoying right now, but…we’ll see.
but if we beat msu in the championship game, it will be the start and end of every rivalry argument for the rest of my life.
I’m not comfortable with Sparty making it that far. Wisky making a run would seem fluky, but Sparty making a final four again would seem like a return to historical success for their program.
I’m good with that fanbase continuing to define success as just making the tournament.
Very solid counter-point.
This team… still needs a lot, right?
Nance replacing Hawkins would be intriguing I guess but I’m not crazy about that group unless Skyy Clark is lottery pick good. Shannon as a primary creator feels dicey.
RJ Melendez 128 ORTG on 22% USG, though.
I think they will win the B1G
If they don’t get another good tranfer ala Nance, then yes that’s still not a great team at all. I’d pick Michigan with Houstan back above that team
Yeah that lineup doesn’t impress
4.5 new starters for Illinois…okay. I like Shannon a lot and he would have solved some problems for us, but this doesn’t seem like a title contender unless Skyy Clark is an immediate success. There have been very few freshmen lately that made that big of an impact.
Yeah, I’d be perfectly happy with Sparty never again going to the Final Four.
We’ve already beaten Illinois in a Final Four and they still aren’t over it, so it’s not necessary to do it again. And it’s funnier with them never making the Sweet 16.
So I’d pick the Badgers.
Yeah I’m surprised at how willing people are to have MSU go on a run to the championship game. It’d be exciting to beat them, but I’d rather beat someone else and have MSU lose round 1. That’s funnier to me.
I don’t like this development.
