Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

Izzo probably just remembered that he scored 19 on MSU this past fall.

So, this guy was a two star in high school, maybe in the top 30 or so high school players in Michigan his senior year at Rouge, did a post grad year and then went to Oakland. According to Evan Miya, he’s a three star in the transfer portal and the number 300 rated prospect. OK. Good luck State!

Add Ryan Young and MSU is set IMO!

I am ready to read RCMB for when that goes down

Seeing Ryan Young’s name reminds me… is Northwestern’s plan to just run it back without Young and (potentially) Pete Nance? No incoming transfers as of now and their only recruit is #256.

Are they just hamstrung waiting on Nance to decide what he’s gonna do? I haven’t seen their name pop up as being “in” on many recruits.

I assume if they really want him they’ll get him

Sounds like they want him. I don’t really think it makes sense for either party though.

Is he a guard or wing?

Played a lot of 2-guard for Oakland, but he’s a wing. Not really an effective on-ball player at all. Effective on D. And then cutting to the rim / spotting up.

Doesn’t seem like the worst guy they could bring in but it sure seems like Izzo is barely trying. Missing those long time staffers seems like it’s catching up w him?

Maybe his plan is to bump everyone up a position?

Walker | Akins
Oakland | Brooks
Hall | Hauser

Recruiting a kid from Oakland that went to HS in Michigan is about as low effort as it gets if you’re Izzo.

Mike Hart level stuff

Cynically I think it’s a perfect fit for MSU because he’s more likely to worship Izzo and accept his abuse

Perplexing post. What do you mean?

It’s best that we not go down this rabbit hole outside of DMs. But this is a good joke if you’re a very specific kind of Michigan fan and I couldn’t help myself.

I’m still trying to process the Jay Wright news, but he and Izzo make quite the juxtaposition. Wright walking away literally at the top of his game because he wants a different balance in his life and has concerns about the way the game is headed.

Debatable if Izzo is in decline but this roster could make that quite clear potentially. Obviously doesn’t like where the game is headed and pretty much works to avoid said changes (portal, more modern offense, etc.). I just can’t see Izzo walking away from this despite it probably being healthier for him and the program. Of course they could turn it around but I would consider it almost as likely that he completely loses it Bobby Knight fashion on a kid.

I mean he already has done so…multiple times. He has put his hands on Gabe Brown and Aaron Henry just in the past two years

Yet continues to get essentially a free pass? I guess my point is that free pass is a lot harder to have when your NCAA tournament streak is gone/.500 team, etc.

Sure but he didn’t do a Krabbenhoft on them. He’s come close to the line without crossing it.
