The temper tantrums continue. Maryland gets a fast break, MN player swipes down hard on his arms before he goes up and drags him to the ground. Hard foul, but only got the arms, went for the ball, no head/neck, etc. Maryland player gets up and goes after the guy until Fatts grabs him and pulls him away. Refs go to the monitor and call it a Flagrant 1 and even Bardo is stunned they called it that. I guess they erred on the side of safety, but it was a weak flagrant when you’re trying to prevent the easy layup without hurting the guy.
Maryland has been playing better lately.
Current available scenarios for the 4 seed:
- It is required for Michigan to win out
Atleast one of these two results is required:
- PSU Beats Rutgers
- Iowa Beats Illinois
If both of the above results occur, Michigan gets the 4 seed.
If only one of the two occur, Michigan can still get the 4 seed with the below outcomes:
- MSU beats OSU AND Maryland beats MSU
Can you give 5 seed scenarios?
So it’s fairly simple. There is one scenario where Michigan can get the 5 seed without winning out:
- Michigan beats Iowa
- Michigan loses to OSU
- OSU beats MSU
- Maryland beats MSU
- Illinois beats Iowa
Otherwise, if Michigan wins out they are guaranteed atleast the 5 seed. So if they win out and the 4 seed scenarios do not play out as laid out above, they will get the 5 seed.
Need ya’ll to start cooking up some scenarios where Michigan isn’t playing the late game. No six seeds please, thanks.
Isn’t the 6 the most likely option with a split?
So run the table. Rooting for 2 L’s not allowed.
Yeah, that’s what I’m realizing… And I’m not happy about it
Feel like we are rarely on the later side of the bracket, so Dylan’s been spoiled
Not big on a 9:30pm tip time?
We’ve been on the evening side of the bracket only 4 times since 2004.
Thought so. I was honestly having a hard time remembering watching a B1G tourney game that wasn’t in the afternoon.
It feels like we are in the noon game almost every year
Yep, it seems like an annual tradition for me to be trying to sneak peeks at the score during work. At least we always seem to win.
Except that one time Evan Turner hit the buzzer beater on us. I was literally sitting in Calc 2 with my team group all suddenly hanging their heads.
Ugh. I remember checking the score right before - “2 point lead, 2 seconds left, we’re in business!”
The four “evening” years were in 2006, 2009, 2012, and 2019. And actually in 2006 even though it was the evening side of the bracket in the 11 team format the first round was still an afternoon game. That was also the last time we lost the first game of the tournament.
2009 was an afternoon first round game and then a loss to Illinois. 2012 was an OT win over Minnesota and 2019 was the only time we’ve been in 9 PM game (vs Iowa).
is that the one that went to OT?
A lot of noon classics. The Kam Chatman 3. The Illinois practice jersey game. The Purdue OT game. A late Jordan Morgan bucket to beat Illinois.
